It's not the first drone the Iranians have fired on. A while back, they successfully captured one within Iran, ...and the US State Dept asked them very nicely if they could have their property back. lol.
My guess is that the Iranians had their best scientists (what's left of them) studying that sucker with a fine tooth comb. I wouldn't be surprised if Iran comes up with their own drones very shortly too. With just a little help from China, they'll have that thing reverse engineered and knocked off in a heart beat.
