Venice submerged in near-record floods

The canals of Italy's famous city of Venice have been drenched by heavy rain, sending water levels soaring to near record highs. With a metre-and-a-half of water, 80 per cent of Venice was flooded at the peak of high tide. The combination of meteoroglical and astronomical factors that led to it, Sunday's tides the seventh highest of all time. Al Jazeera's Claudio Lavanga reports from Venice.

Venice is a cool place. I went last year this time and had a blast. I imagine it would be smelly in the summer. I asked some folks about flooding and they said it wasn't bad. Our gondola tour guide showed us the high water marks from when it did flood. Place is built on marsh, what do you expect. Hopefully they figure it out.

Loved venice, had my first weddiing anniversary there. Great vibe daytime and evenings and coffee was delicious. Food is awful though, even Italians hate the food in venice. We ate ate the best restaurant in the city 'Alle Testiere' and  was not impressed. The chocolate and liquorice ice cream was amazing though.

Those floods are mainly caused by a combination of natural causes (Heavy rains, flood, and strong winds), and a series of human actions over many centuries.
Trendy "climate change" has nothing to do with it I think:
