Someone will come out and buy up everything... The Twinkie is an american national icon.
not if they have to pick up the defined benefit pension liability.

Hostess asked the employees to take a 8% pay cut to keep them in business so that 18,500 could have jobs. Some of the unions, especially here in California, objected, and prefered to strike and yell and scream.
In the end, they all are out of a job. They are hoping that another bakery with better benefits will come over and take them under their wings. It may works for a few bakeries here in California, but the vast majority of Hostess bakeries and their employees will shut down and lose their jobs.
Sad.
So much for all that "shared sacrifice" crap we hear from liberals.

If someone does buy out Hostess, you can bet they'll move the business to a right-to-work state, probably in the Southeast.

see, I view this as the market doing what the market does.
If you want cheap junk food cakes, Little Debbie is 1/2 to 1/3 the price of Hostess cakes.
If you want quality junk food, Entemanns is about the same price as hostess but way more quality.

Unions had their time and place as protectors and turned into hostage takers holding companies hostage until they are out of business.

Ron any news if this will affect the CUP CAKE Industry too No, this is doing very well out here in Los Angeles. Various bakeries make their own, including Ralphs Supermarket, which are surprisingly good. And now they have various flavors at specialized bakeries out here, aka Velvet Red Cupcakes, or Cake Batter Cupcakes, and many more, which are great. I just prefer a Boston Cream filled cupcake! Someone will buy the Twinkie and Ding Dong name, and keep selling them. Unfortunately, most likely, they will be a bakery with more machine filled technology and less people. Sad that 18,000 had to lose their jobs before the holidays over the stubbornness of a few hundred.

Left wing Union thugs have put Hostess out of business with thier strike. Obama and the unions are destroying this country. Twinkies, like many things American, are now history.

Why is this sad? They went on strike, should be fired.
