Its not that easy. Some say make me go to the office and get in your face while telling u this.
I was a sub/regular teacher for 7 years or so. Some say that, and you calmly dial the office and eat your donut while they enjoy that last 3 minutes of class before they get a 3-day suspension, and they know it.
If they get in your face, it's already a confrontation. There is no staredown. If they move aggressively into your space, it's already an assault, and you do what you have to do. It's never a staredown. If they move at you that aggressively, then you use the legal takedown moves that they teach you. It's basically a pin, so you don't hurt them, and they don't hurt you. And you take them down, and you hold them and have kids call office, and that kid won't be back at the school for 45 days or whatever. that was my experience.
You have to protect yourself, but no staredown - if they're in your face, it's already an attack.
