He would have been a multiple Mr. Olympia if he'd had a back with better detail. There's no doubt about it.

But we all know the Mr. Olympia is generally the Mr. Back contest.

From the front, most pros are so good, it's a toss-up. But from the back, it's far easier to discriminate from one bodybuilder to the next. With so little separating 1st from 5th from the front, it's easier for judges to over-reward/over-penalize a bodybuilder from the back. There's just far more disparity amongst the pros when it comes to back size/details, hamstring detail, glute detail.

Notice I didn't say "calves". Judges still don't care about calf development.

Nasser's lats were so thick at that contest. I think those were the thickest lats I've ever seen in the front double bicep. Even thicker lats than Ronnie's or Dorian's. Question is, how come they didn't look that thick in the back double bicep?

They were impressive when he hits the FLS correctly. Sometimes he would hit the FLS the wrong way and his lats would look smaller than they really are. As for the front double bicep and front relaxed, his lats were one of the biggest on stage.

yes bro. but imo ronnie's FLS doesnt flow in a good way like lee haney or dorian.. his naturally bad abs shape takes from this pose.. also i feel he needed to bend his torso a little bit to the rear..

as for nasser's lats from the rear i see them wide and thick when he was on but sure they lacked the hardness and details of the other top pros..

Nasser looked great around 95-96. But, if you looked at him up close (no homo), his lats really seemed 'site injected' at the time (96). They were swollen, and he was almost not able to flex them. Also, anatomically speaking, and clearly when viewed from the side, they had a strange shape. I think this became obvious as his back started to deteriorate, slowly at first, already from 97 onwards. By 99 they were a mess.
