Nubret was known as extremely bitter during his last years, he could barely make a living, was still "haunting" the REM gym in Paris, living at friend's place and though he still looked good in pictures, he was in terrible shape (and I mean barely walking). He had found God and was talking in cryptic ways to most. Pretty much had lost everything including his mind. Some at the REM said he carried old pictures of himself everywhere, showing how great he looked at his best (which let's face it was true). Stuck in the '70s.
