if the Blue Jays acquire R.A. Dickey from the Mets (as is rumoured could happen) then might as well start planning the World Series parade down Bay Street right now.

Lol!  That won't even make them a lock for the division, let alone the WS.

Grandpa could have gone Pro in Baseball, but chose to serve his country instead during World War II.  He never regretted that decision.

There is an obvious solution to this problem:  hire Johnny Falcon as the team's nutritionist.

Of course nothing ever is a lock in sports.  You gotta play the games.  And things are even more unpredictable in short playoff series.  But I'm fairly confident that (especially with two wild card teams now) the Blue Jays will be playing meaningful baseball games in October for the first time since Joe Carter's blast 20 years ago.

the latest MLB Odds in Las Vegas:

Toronto Blue Jays 15-2
Los Angeles Angels 17-2
Los Angeles Dodgers 17-2
Washington Nationals 9-1
Detroit Tigers 10-1
Cincinnati Reds 12-1
Texas Rangers 12-1
New York Yankees 14-1
Atlanta Braves 16-1
Philadelphia Phillies 16-1
San Francisco Giants 16-1
Tampa Bay Rays 22-1
Boston Red Sox 25-1
St. Louis Cardinals 25-1
Oakland Athletics 30-1
Milwaukee Brewers 35-1
Baltimore Orioles 40-1
Chicago White Sox 40-1
Arizona Diamondbacks 45-1
Kansas City Royals 50-1
Pittsburgh Pirates 50-1
Cleveland Indians 75-1
Minnesota Twins 75-1
New York Mets 75-1
Seattle Mariners 75-1
Chicago Cubs 100-1
Colorado Rockies 100-1
Miami Marlins 100-1
San Diego Padres 100-1
Houston Astros 200-1

As for the American League East?:
Toronto Blue Jays 3-2
New York Yankees 19-10
Tampa Bay Rays 5-1
Boston Red Sox 11-2
Baltimore Orioles 10-1

We'll see.  Anaheim had Weaver/Wilson/Greinke and Puljos but missed.   It will be all about a Johson bounceback, Dickey's AL adjustment, etc.  And I'm not hating, just my thoughts.  The AL east is as open as it's been in a decade.  Every team has a shot, outside of Boston, although I believe Baltimore will regress.

Looks like the Jays are pulling a Miami marlins move back when they were the Florida marlins, stock up for a serious run and try and get a ring under your belt....and then have a fire sale in the next couple of years

The AL east is going to be fun to watch, and it is nice to see the Blue Jays making moves instead of being a glorified farm team for the rest of the AL for a change.

Yeah (Grape Ape, Groink), the A.L. East is going to be a lot of fun to watch this year.   The core Blue Jays (except for Josh Johnson) are under contract for the next few years and so if they're successful this year I don't think it'll be a "one and done", but rather they should be in the mix for the next 3 years anyway.

Toronto on paper looks really good. But will it translate to wins? Baltimore won way too many 1 run games last year. I'm thinking fluke. Yankees are very vulnerable this year. When will 320 pound CC start to break down? If Red Sox pitching sucks again this year, they have no chance. If they can get some decent pitching out of there starters, their lineup looks pretty good. Rays pitching is really good. But that's all they have. If their pitching doesn't hold up, they have no chance. So the East is wide open. However it looks like the wild card will come out of the West.
