How is that album under-rated? Kashmir is considered an eternal rock anthem.

I guess if you have to choose an under-rated Zep album, for me, it would be a tie between Presence and Led Zeppelin III.

Presence is pretty out there, even by Zeppelin's standards. Still kicks it though.

And III is the album that sort of changed how Zeppelin cut their music, so it was kind of confusing to a lot of folks who thought they knew the band after I and II. And of course, it gets sandwiched between the monster II and IV albums, which are simply some of the best albums of all-time, easily.

If pressed, I go with Presence.

But saying Zeppelin had an under-rated album is like saying Wayne Gretzky had an under-rated season in the 80s.

Isn't Houses of the Holy on that album? I know it wasn't on the album named that, and thought it was Physical Grafitti. Anyway, lots of good music on that album. Probably the pinnacle, as Coda and In through the out Door were, ehh.

I like the album the bass player wrote. A fool in the rain etc.

It's just so different it's a good listen after listening to stolen blues songs  on the rest of the albums.

I'm so burnt out on Led Zepplin.

I'm going retro for heavy metal - Judas Priest and AC/DC. There music helps me through a workout every once and a while when I'm dragging.

Yup.  I saw them play 3 hours for a group of about 200 hundred once in Boston.  Stood right in the front, and they just ripped for hours and didn't give anytihng less since they were in a bar.

Metallica, as  cliche as it is, ruled from Kill 'em All to about half of the Black album.  They were epic, so I'll give them the nod.  It's a shame Lars became such a douchebag and Bob Rock took away all their edge.

And, just to state it, I think ACDC fucking sucks outside of two songs.

I saw Slayer in Boston as well (many years ago) Channel Club (now gone), what a great show...(Late 80's I believe)..

why ? , Tool is great. so is Soundgarden, "Superunknown" is a hard rock masterpiece.

Just because they didn't play in the 70's and 80's doesn't mean they aren't every bit as good as those bands.

Very good album.

Lots of great music came out of Seattle in the 90's.

Seen Slayer quite a few times and it's always hilarious to see them blow everybody else on the bill off the stage - and I don't go out of my way to listen to Slayer, either - but they are on another level in terms of quality of live show.
This. I've never been a particularly big Slayer fan, I really don't enjoy listening to their albums.... But man, the shows are incredible. And for some reason, I enjoy their songs live... Just not driving in a car. Never quiet figured that one out.

Good post but III has become a very revered album with time and a lot of people (actually a lot outside th realm of rock) consider it to be Zeppelin's best. Page's solo on "Since I've been Loving You" is one of the greatest solos ever. Presence is under-rated no doubt: "Tea For One", "Achille's Last Stand", "Nobody's Fault But Mine" are amongst Zep's greatest songs. "Royal Orleans","For Your Life", "Hots On For Nowhere": how many bands can sound that good honestly?

But other than "Presence", I'd say "Houses Of The Holy" is their most under-rated album: "The Rain Song" and "No Quarter" are in my top 5 Zeppelin tunes. "The Ocean", "Dancing days": if your feet are still listening to these, go see a neuro-surgeon. How many rock bands could play something like "The Crunge"?

Best Metal Band:  Sabbath
Best Hard Rock Band:  Tough call for me, but you have to give the nod to Led Zep.

While not the greatest of all time, one of the most under-rated bands is Rainbow.
