You gotta mix it homes. Variety like you'd train your muscles in the gym.

PR=5:11

right now just a tad under 6 min

i did break 2 min in the half mile when i was a young punkass in high school

had my VO2 Max measured out at 71 ml/kg/min @ The Ohio state Univerversity and i wasn't even in peak condition at that time

p.s. 71 ml/kg/min is ELITE

if you're really serious about improving your mile time you should run hard 3 times per week and easy on the other days or take a complete rest

hard runs include intervals, tempo runs, fartlek, long runs

I gave up running for fast walking. It is lower impact and better for your health. I ran track in high school, but have no idea what my times were these many years later. Not sure that what one accomplished as a kid in high school is all that relevant as they get older. Many of the high school jocks I knew were overweight and out of shape by the time they hit 30.

I get in running moods every once in a while, where I will run races. While preparing for one about 6 months ago, I ran my first mile in 6:42. That was the fastest I have recorded a mile in a long time. I did 6:13 in high school about 13 years ago, but I'm 31 and weigh 240 pounds now so running beats my back to death.
