honestly though the only reason i own guns is that they were handed down to me and i went hunting at a young age

haven't had a lot of opportunities to go lately and even when i did i went on an organized hunt and didn't even need to bring a gun (the hunt was in alberta and i live in ontario)

my wife has been talking to me about selling them recently (especially since all of the craziness south of the border)

i'm starting to agree with her... as a responsible gun owner i do not want to be associated with people who want assault rifles by the dozen, 200 round mags and hundreds of rounds of ammo...

there is this wonderful border between us preventing that transaction from occurring... i have a nice pump action remington 12, a single shot 12, a 303 (really pretty stock and nice iron sights), a 308 (scoped) and a 22 rifle (semi-auto).... couple handguns at the range too

anyway, gotta figure out how to sell them now (can't list them on common internet sites like kijiji, ebay & craigslist)

There is a site for selling guns that is analogous to ebay. My cousin's husband told me about it last night as we discussed firearms over Christmas dinner. After being on call and working overtime, I was like a zombie and can't remember half of what he told me, but I can get you the name when I see him again tomorrow if you're interested.

I believe it works something along the lines of private owners auctioning their gun(s) to a buyer. The gun is shipped from the seller to a dealer, who then conducts the background checks, etc. The buyer then completes the transaction through the dealer. However, I don't know how/if it works with international vendors.

But, you could probably command a higher price if you're able to sell through an American vendor. I was astonished to learn what many folks here are (IMO, foolishly) paying for certain guns right now. It's full-panic mode nation wide, which works to sellers' advantage. Once the dust settles, things will probably revert back to normal.

I believe changes will be made, but I suspect the most my govt will do is make it "more difficult" to purchase firearms. Maybe they'll implement stricter criteria for background checks, levy higher taxes on guns/ammo; things along those lines. I doubt it will escalate to what some CT'ists are predicting.

And, if they do, hey...Chuck Norris is the NRA spokes-rep.
And, just like the Boogeyman, Congress knows: you don't fuck...with Chuck!!

Some folks just don't like guns. I don't fault anyone for not wanting them in their house; particularly if they're uncomfortable (for whatever reason) with them. Other people may just not feel a need to have them.

Personally, I like having (and exercise) the right to possess and carry a gun.
I'm also in support of qualifying individuals having those same rights.
