I could. If someone was breaking into your house? If someone did a horrible act against one of your family members? If you got to be the executioner/torturer of a mass murderer? I wouldn't think twice. It would be like stepping on an ant. We need to bring back the "eye for an eye mentality".

No, it's just that I would have no remorse for someone who deserves it.

It's not about having or not having remorse for someone. It's about taking care of yourself and your family at all costs. I for one wouldn't hesitate.

You never know these things before you actually end up in a such situation, but I think we all can agree on that most people would kill another person if it ment their own life was in serious life threatning danger - as we humans are living (both consciously and unconsciounsly) by natures oldest rule, "Survival of the fittest"...

A fair point. I am all for making an example out of these sick mass killers. We should stop being so politically correct about things. That Batman movie killer? Torture. Captured terrorists? Torture. The key is to make the penalty so horrible, that nobody would dare to try. If they did, they would pray that they could off themselves before being caught.

I could.
Back when I was younger (20's) I served in Desert Storm, while in the marines.
Today, over two decades later, I do not have the rage or the desire to ever try to seriously hurt someone to the point of possibly bringing about death.
I love to fight for sport, but I have no desire to kill anyone.

P.S. Why kill a man, when you could easily make love to him?

One such horrible penalty that has been implemented throughout history has been the inclusion of the perpetrator's relatives in sentencing, making the relatives suffer for the perpetrator's crimes. This ensures the perpetrator does not "get away with it" when they commit suicide after a heinous act or when they get away. If this was implemented alot of people would reconsider violent crimes.

You are missing the key point One. I could easily kill a man who deserves to die. Each man chooses his path in life.

The problem is this - who are you to decide who deserves to live and die? It'd be one thing if you had to kill to save your life, or to save the lives of your loved ones... But just killing because you feel they deserve to die, that's pretty bad.

You sound like Gandalf: Frodo: “It’s a pity Bilbo didn’t kill him when he had the chance.” Gandalf: “Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo’s hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment.
