i actually got to know about cream as a kid because a student was working as a post guy and gave me a tape of cream with white room on it Big Al .. i remember he came to the door and gave me a letter, i thought fucking hippy guy but got talking to him. He was sound. remember him smoking a joint as he spoke to me. was a very intelligent guy.

Cream were totally unique. Sorta heavy hippy psychadelic metal.
First time I heard them was late 70's on holiday with a group of pals is France. A few of us were lying on a beach with our getto blaster, drunk at 2 o'clock in the morning when one of the guys put a cream cassette on.
White room was the first track and I remember looking up at the stars half pissed on stello artoit and it felt like a drug induced trip.  Love to go back to these days of being 18 again.

Funny thing is, I never cared for anything else Clapton did later.

Clapton was a very gifted man but was in the shadow of Jimi Hendrix, who was with out a doubt the best.
