I found that doing leg presses first, followed by squats on the Smith machine produced the best results!
both are great exercises.. but i like Barbell squats flat footed and get better results than leg press. I do not believe the notion (largely popularized by Vince Gironda, although his charges did smith machine squats and hack squats) that full Barbell squats give you overdeveloped Buttocks,hips,waist and "carrot" shaped thighs !!
Benched 505 with one of those straight jacket bench shirts I'm sure. Power lifting and bodybuilding has gone to hell. Power lifting with all the cheat gear and shallow squats. Bodybuilding with all the bloat cosmetic drug muscles. It seems Olympic lifting where you put it over your head or you don't is the only strength sport worth any praise.
