1) I agree with Mika that soda is poisonous, toxic, unhealthy shit, packed with sugar and not good for humans

2) I support the right of any American to consume as much sugar, soda, tobacco, saturated fats, and anything else they'd like.  It's their body and their life.  

3) Looking BIGGER picture, I'm a little curious on the society impact of junk food... does it mean popluation dies off sooner from 50 years of eating crap, so they're not enjoying social security for another 35 years?  OR does it cost society more because they're diabetic from age 40 to 65 and on the medicaid teet?

 That seems to be the mindset of conservatives: let's have full access to whatever we can destroy ourselves with. Guns, environmental poisons, lack of education, even faux foods that make us obese and diabetic. By god, don't take any of that stuff away! We have a RIGHT to make our lives worse! lol Let's concentrate on what's more important, aiding private corporations to make more money at any cost to our people and country. Mika is right and so is the Mayor of NYC. Sugars and fats are killing us, especially our children. The vast majority of adults/parents do not have the ability to monitor what they eat, let alone monitoring what they feed their children. And, the truth is that eating properly and more healthfully, is expensive and most folks simply cannot afford healthful foods.
 
I support such laws - banning sugars, etc., cigarettes, alcohol, fatty foods, drugs etc. from us. And yes, it is an infringement on my individual rights. The other side of the coin is, everyone enjoys their freedoms to eat, drink and be merry and ultimately become in poor health. Who pays for the medical care of these people who've abused their bodies all these years? You and I do, now I've had my individual rights infringed on big time.

 We give massive subsidies to corporate agriculture to produce junk foods that are loaded with added sugar, white flour, trans fats, etc. We should instead tax added sugar and other products that have a high social cost.

I think a socially progressive tax would work better than a ban.
