Shawn Ray made a career out of it
Funny you should say that...I was at the 2001 Mr. Olympia in Las Vegas and I attended the athletes meeting.....a female judge in the audience got involved in a verbal fight with Shawn because Shawn felt the judges were constantly overlooking him in the judging....and she said to him in front of an auditorium full of people ..."that's because you never change, Shawn..you look the same every year"...
Shawn became furious and used that as an indication that the judges were biased against him....the female judge was immediately disqualified from judging the Olympia and was tossed off the panel.....
Shawn went on to win 4th place on Olympia night but I had him at third......he was beaten out by Ronnie, Jay, and Levrone...Shawn was angry because he felt that he should have been in second place behind Ronnie because Levrone should not have been allowed to compete because he was a late entry and signed his entry form late, and also Jay was caught using diuretics in testing and should have had his placing disqualified......this was the last straw for Shawn and he quit bodybuilding shortly after that due to his feeling that the Olympia was politicized and everyone was against him. He also said that he lost out on second place prize money due to this
