Yes, the MM2K audio newsletters. Duchaine, Mentzer, Poliquin, and a bunch of the EAS guys did them.

The Duchaine one had the voice plus a beep that made everyone cringe.

He had a genetic disorder called Polycystic Kidney Disease that kills most people pretty young, that and I believe he had a bad flu or pneumonia that took advantage of his weakened state.

Dan Duchaine refused to go to the hospital despite everyone telling him too.  He could still be alive had he'd done that although it would have been slim.  Still should have fought to live.

Mentzer basically took joy in him suffering.  Duchaine did some pretty nasty things to him such as spread the rumor that he was drinking his own urine and the infamous seminar where he announced that Mike Mentzer had died from suicide

Yes, he was near or at the time he should have started dialysis. One theory at the time was that he had seen a few friends go through dialysis(including one just a few months before) and decided he wanted no part of it.

He was the first to apply Ketogenic diets to bodybuilding, for the purposes of depletion and hypercompensation....... mainly for pre-contest prep.

If you mean the Zumpano and Duchaine diet. I haven't seen it reprinted anywhere, but if you go to www.dejanews.com and type in "Duchaine Zumpano diet" you can piece it together pretty well.

If you scroll to the last post in this thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/archive/index.php?t-892725.html , it will give you a look at what the training program looked like. That's the best I've found, but if you really want to know all the in's-and-out's of the "Rebound" training program, Ricky Dale Crain still sells the booklet for a few bucks. I think his website is www.crainsmuscleworld.co m .

Zumpano also covered it in Muscle Builder magazine in the early 80's.

Yes, he did compete a bit, I remember seeing pictures from a mixed pairs event from 1982 or so He looked to be 180ish, which may sound bad but was o.k. for the timeframe. He certainly seemed fitter than many of the other gurus.

He was around 48 when he passed.
