This post is a tribute to Pop, Big Bob Zuver.
RIP. 1929 to 2008

The old man was a man to be reckoned with. He never did anything in a small way. He gave 100% all the time and that didn't stop to the day he died. He grew up in Akron Oh. in a large family of 16 brothers and sisters. Those were tough days financially for his father who worked for Firestone Rubber Co and did what he could provide for his family. Dads old man would throw out the boys to find a job when they 10 years old and made to help provide for the rest of the family. That made pop even more determined to make something out of himself. As soon as he was old enough he joined the Navy and was one of the First UDT Navy Frogman.  Now known as Navy Seals. He had been working out off and on through his teen years after seeing a Muscle Magizene. He read about the bodybuilders of that era and wanted ti give it a try. An old man down the street from his fathers home had a makeshift gym in his garage and took pop in and taught him how to lift weights and to develop his physique.  Dad got in better shape after he joined the Navy and after being released from the Navy he trained a few years then he entered The Mr Norfolk Virginia and Won.  He was hooked.  In 1959 he packed us all up and moved us to LA.  The first thing he did was find a job as a painting contractor and found a gym. It wasn't long that he met Bill Pearl at his gym and they became friends.  We moved to Costa Mesa where a bunch of the Neighborhood kids heard pop knew how to lift and talked him into teaching them.  It started out in a little 10 X12ft garage and grew out of control in a few short months so pop bought the property across the street with a Two Car Garage. The rest is History. Zuver's Hall Of Fame Gym Was Born. Well the Gym took First Place in Pops book of life and his bodybuilding career soon became, Gym Owner and Trainer instead. Here are some photos of Pop.
May he have a smile on his Face for the great things he accomplished with his Life.
RIP POP
