I don't want to open up a pointless discussion but I have yet to see concrete evidence that a calorie from a gram of protein can in fact convert to fat and ya I will get a 1000 people on here who will say ''Of course again"' but I have talked to a few experts including a few PHD guys who insist that it can not,

I also believe it can not and I had a discussion with Scott Connelly (name?) founder of MET_RX who said that some of his research team were concluding it can not and few biologist who also believe it can not, so not so far fetched if you ask me and if this is true then 'a calorie is a calorie'' is not true.
Never said that you would be healthy off of such a diet. ;) But, there have been cases where people have lowered cholesterol Etc... while eating nothing but fast food. A calorie deficit is a calorie defict. Health benefits are arguable.

Hey guys - loving all the discussion on here.

I pretty much used this site to calculate how much I should be eating:  http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/

As you guys see, my main focus is calorie control.

The Gatorade is primarily in there just as a post work out meal to restore glycogen levels.  I don't take it on my days off from the gym.

Yeah, the low fat ice cream cones.... I could probably do without those... but its just something that helps keep me sane!  Like a small treat in the middle of the day and at the end of the day after eating my chicken and broccoli!   ;D

You're too much focussed on calorie intake, choose good macro sources first. Add things like fish, brown rice, oat meal and olive oil to your diet.

Currently I have undertaken a diet where I aim to get carbs from green vegetables. And I don't overeat protein anymore since it makes me feel slow, and I'm sure you can get fat from proteins. Feels great so far.

I think my macros are good except for the low fat ice cream?

Ok - I'm continuing my mission to try to lose weight, slow and steady... its a work in progress as always... I've been doing well for a while, then I'll fall off the wagon one weekend. Then get back on again...

Current weight is 234, 19% bf

Here is the diet, a bit unorthodox as always, but what do you all think:

Meal 1

4 Whole Extra Large eggs
Glucosamine
Multivitamins
3 g Aspartic acid mixed with Crystal light

Meal 2

1 Footlong Grilled Chicken sub on whole wheat bread with lettuce, tomatoes, and 1 pack of ketchup

Meal 3

1 Footlong Grilled Chicken sub on whole wheat bread with lettuce, tomatoes, and 1 pack of ketchup

1 cone Skinny Cow low fat ice cream

Intra-WO

4 Tea-Spoons CORE ABC (Mix of BCAA's, Citruline Malate, and Beta-Alanine)
5 g creatine

Meal 4 (PWO)

2 scoops Gaspari Myofusion Probiotic protein (Cinnamon Roll Flavor)
1 20 oz bottle of gatorade performs
5 g creatine

Meal 5

1 Grilled Chicken breast
1/2 bag of Broccolli (About 2 cups)
1 cone Skinny Cow low fat ice cream

Macros come out to about:

203 g Protein
318 g Carbs
51 g Fat

2543 Calories

Lets hear it GETBIG!!!

on the subways sandwiches...why not get the 6" but with double meat? This way you cut the carbs in 1/2 and increase the protein a little.

Your diet looks 'creative', but your fat types suck with those 4 whole eggs & grilled chicken.

Where do you figure that fat from whole eggs is not good?  Egg yolk contain a good amount of omega 3 fatty acids.

Quote
The same applies for your carb sources, like ice cream & gatorate.

I'm with you on the ice cream (but in retrospect, those only make up 60 g of the 300 g included in the diet).  The bulk of my carbs come from the whole wheat bread from my subs.

Can't agree with you on the Gatorade though, since its there post work out.

Quote
You also overdo the supps. The ones in meal #1 are OK, but 10 grams of creatine during a cutting phase?!
Sorry, but your 'diets' looks look the one of a kid.

Why do you figure 10 g of creatine is bad during a cutting phase?  Creatine can be taken during cutting without any problems.  Hell I've even been as high as 20 g of creatine 4 weeks out from a show and didn't see any sort of ill-effects.

Thats an interesting observation...  Never thought about that.  I feel like I'd be pretty damn hungry though a little bit after!  But its something I can consider.

Do you really need two ice cream cones a day?  Total waste of calories.  Pure garbage.  You think, it's only 300 calories total, but after 10 days that 3000 calories, after 100 days its 30000 calories, in a year it's over 100000 calories.  It adds up to a lot of wasted calories fast.

I already tried this and your body simply reject this, at first severe constipation and then diarrhea from over using your digestive enzymes and then massive gas cramps, your body simply can not go through with it.

I tried this for 7 days and ate 3-4000 calories of protein only foods and I dropped more fat that week then any other week I have ever dieted in, but people will claim that half of my calories were not absorbed because of severe diarrhea, either way I still believe that no matter how much protein you eat you can get fat off of it.

Also keep this up and your kidneys will go so really a mute point.

OTH, my views tend to line up very closely with yours on this subject. But, don't you think 300g protein is way too much for a fat natural like ACH (no offense buddy!) ? His body isn't nearly as efficient with glycogen turnover and protein synthesis as guys juicing.

Agree hence my orginal question about what he's basing his BMR on....if it's true lean mass, then he shouldn't need more than 200g protein daily (around 1g per pound LBW) and 200g carbs.

You bring up an excellent point.

Do I really need them.... well no lol...... Is my lack of willpower sickening to the point that I feel I need them.... yes ;D

I would like to, at one point, cut them down to just 1 a day.... and then eventually none.....  But My cravings just start to kick in and I go a bit crazy.... I've said this many time, my main problem is discipline.  Hell even during contest preps I've had my moments of total breakdowns and binge eating in the dark hoping not to be caught by my wife  ;D

No offense taken.  I've been as high as 400 g of protein per day, 300 g actually sits very well with me, especially when I'm dieting.  In the past, contest preps for me have always always been:  High Protein (300-400 g), moderate fats, low to no carbs.

But I guess you can say I'm trying something new.  If we are to believe the research is correct.... a calorie is a calorie....  then controlling caloric intake is my first priority.... my second priority is staying within my listed macros which are distributed as, high carbs, moderate protein, low fat.

A big question I have is....  Is 2500 calories where I should be right now?????  Is it too much???  Is it too little????  I've never been able to properly assess where I should start with a diet when it came to caloric consumption.

And to be clear.... my goals are not to be super lean or anything like that.....

I'm 19-20% bf right now at 234 lbs....  I would like to be 12-15% and sitting at around 220 lbs!!!  Nothing unreasonable here!!!  But I am hoping to maintain as much muscle as I can (or even gain some) while shedding this fat.

Also, would it be a good idea to add in a fat-burner right now?  Or is it too early?

This is what I'm saying. Even with juicers I don't think the protein needs to get too crazy...you body just uses food so much more efficiently. The more I learn, the less and less protein I feel I need. 200g is still a TON of fkn protein for almost any bodybuilder muscle champion.

2500 calories, fill it with whatever you want, day in and day out= Lean Big Ach.

Couldn`t be any easier my friend!

You don`t need any Fat Burner, Protein Powders (unless convenient for you or you like them) or anything.

Honestly, when I'm on 2500 calories, I'm not starving at all.... but I do start to get a bit hungry before my next meal... and I'm definitely craving shit food (But that could just be my lack of discipline there lol)

The If it fits in your Macros is pointless waste of time in my opinion and TOTALLY unnecessary.

Just keep track of total calories, nothing else.  By default your Macros will be totally fine.  No need to be shit brain about it at all and that is what happens with IIFIYM.  Its completely pointless.

Around 2800 is about right for you to continue to lose fat, see if you drop too low the body goes into a fasting state and tries to hold to fat for survival.

How in the hell is your body going to go into a 'fasting state' on 2500kcals ffs?

Forgive me if the sarcasm is lost on me, I need some reeces peanut butter cups and chocolate ice cream (cups warmed in the microwave obviously)
