Cutting weight for fights that arent 24hr weigh-ins

I have competed in bodybuuilding and powerlifting so have  apretty good working kowledge of cutting weight for both sports, but im curious as to how guys do it in MMA especially the drop the day or so before a fight to get some water weight off.
Whats a realistic target if it's not a 24hr weigh in, considering you still need to be able to fight after.
