I never understood this. None of them have the same taxes, retirements etc, but share a currency. How did they ever think it would work.
don't Think "they" thought it would work. European Union is sprung out of the "European coal and steel Community"(you may want to read up on that). And its only function was to prevent Germany aka the Third Reich(rip) to ever regain its former ideology and power.

Perhaps Greece and the rest of Europe can then compensate all the American and Canadian Descendants of those lost in WW2 who helped saved their asses back then.

Greece does not have a revenue problem, they have a spending problem especially with the amount of people there working for the government and everyone not paying any taxes ever

From a nazi occupation in 1943. Germany says the debt was paid in 1960, Greece is broke and now wants money
...

This Euro whore should get in line behind the others. Lazy fuckers are good for nothing - living off of the proceeds of the welfare state.

How about the American's pay billions to the Afghanis and Iraqi's first -- for killing millions of people and destroying their bread and butter?

Add the Communists to that too!

indeed, lol at people thinking its now cheap to buy a house in spain or greece.

or even montenegro, the poorest european economy.well, try to buy some land or house there at the beach and see :D

or croatia.

cheap will be on the -haha- beautiful albanian coast ;D

In Spain yes, in Croatia  :P no way croatian coastline & islands now too pricey  just like Monte Carlo, see croatian real estate sites.

In today's news: 6000 (+ customs & army) Croatian border police will be guarding European Union/Croatian borders with Serbia,Bosnia-Herzegovina & Monte Negro.EU is establishing machine gun borders .

exactly. they're here living off white guilt instead of over there dodging warlord slavers. all because their great grandaddy sold their other great grandaddy to the "white devil".

There are good real estate opportunities in Cyprus, especially on the Occupied Side. But part of the reason this is so is that that land/property was stolen a few decades back, nobody is too sure of the stability of the current legal underpinnings for ownership, and many of the original -- very pissed off -- owners still live not far away.  :o

Practically speaking, though, nothing is likely to happen if you buy in. Further, you'll have a bit more than 2x the purchasing power since the Turkish lira is utilized there, in addition to being at a hub of travel to three continents and the usual perks of being in the Mediterranean.

yes theres that area where the turkish part and cyprus part is bordering where ppl have been driven out by army, needs bit refurbishing but is certainly cheap, also, no neighbor whatsoever ;D

Yeah, right next to the abandoned airport from the 1970s. ;D

Actually, there is a single village in the UN buffer zone where people live and property is available. Neither the Turkish nor Cypriot police operate there and a whopping 2 UN policemen "run" the area (i.e., sit on their ass and ignore all the covert illegality going on around them). Might be a place for you to consider.  ;D

How were the Turks able to invade half the island in the 1970's?  ???

Why didn't the Greek army kick them off?

Germany is doing well because of their hard work and now all the slackers think they should give them money for nothing. Germany should just leave the Euro and then they couldn't be extorted for money.

We have the same problem in the US. Everyone is getting on social security disability because they are to lazy to work. Food stamps and 2 years unemployment is killing the country. The takers are beginning to take more money than the tax payers can provide.
