Different people admire different physiques for different reasons.  These same people dislike different physiques with equal ardor. 

As to strength, Reeves was quoted as saying he was as strong as he wanted to be or something to that effect.  A friend met him once just prior to Reeves travelling to Italy to make the first Hercules film and said that Steve was no weakling but neither was he as strong as some other top bodybuilders of the day.
