And at any rate, whether mediamatters was used as a resource or not is inconsequential. This boils down to a simple yes or no question that's not up to interpretation, and that question is: is this story over three years old or not?

It never ceases to amaze me how well the US voters have been indoctrinated by the people running the country, i.e. the people fronting hundreds of millions to get figureheads elected. As if being liberal or conservative has any bearing whatsoever on policy. On elections, a tiny bit. Letting yourself be bought more than your opponent will dramatically increase your chances of being elected. But once elected, the money is coming from the same big business, no matter what party flag is waving in the background.

So again: great work by the actual powers in the US, that people are still moronically ascribing all their woes to figureheads. Probably why presidents are getting more and ore 'dislikable': it makes it easier for the 'others' to feel hatred, thereby ensuring their cooperation. So my prediction: next president, no matter what party, will also be of ill repute, will have one trait which will endear him to one of the parties, and one trait which will make the opposition hate him. You are making the typical mistake that people who cannot accept that they have ideological biases make. You assume that you perceive and judge the world accurately. I have news for you old timer... you don't.

People on the left love the Constitution - or rather parts of it. People on the right love the Constitution - or rather parts of it. They just happen to love different parts. And until people from both sides pull their heads out of the asses and realize that you have to respect and not love the Constitution and that you must respect the whole thing, not just the bits and piece you like, we won't make any progress. We'll be stuck, with a polarized electorate that sees the other side as the enemy.

And let me school you a bit more. The particular religion of the Founding Fathers is largely irrelevant. Their wisdom is that, with the exception of the largely typical "year of our Lord", they chose to keep their religion in the pews and out of the Constitution and they produced a secular document, based on logic and a rational morality; a document which has stood the test of time and showcased how a simple document can lay the long-term guiding principles for a nation.

They don't give a fuck about Egypt. Only the strategic importance of the Suez canal matters. If the US can secure it peacefully, then OK.
