The place where you feel the most free and where there are the least jealousy and fear.

Agreed.

What part of Thailand are you in? I'm up in CM, been here over 3 years now

Bangkok - I live close to the airport - about 300 metres from Baan Tap Chang station on the airport link.

Far enough out to be able to breath, close enough to get into trouble within 30 mins.

How do you get on with the air up there when they burn the crops? Sounds rough.

People from just about every country on earth is trying to live in the US. The only people who are trying to live in some of the countries talked about are Muslims.

All these Americans that complain about this country are not trying to leave so they are full of it. They love that they can get food stamps, welfare, social security disability, housing assistance, free medical care, and an Obama cell phone. There only job is voting for the guy who promises the worker's tax money will be spend on them.

I am just a middle class guy but I have a 3000 sq ft. house with an in ground swimming pool. Two paid off brand new cars. I can vacation once or twice year any where in this beautiful country. Don't tell me because of the money exchange how you make more in Europe. You live in a little apartment size house that costs a fortune and drive a little crap car if you have one.

I have loads of American friends that live in Thailand. There's expats from all over the world that live here and all of the other countries I've lived in. Almost all major non-US cities have an expat magazine for people that moved there - many of them Americans.

Not sure how to put it politely - but expats aren't your typical citizens anyway. They aren't moving to a place because they currently live in a 3rd world dump like a large percentage of those moving to the US. They move because of the lifestyle and to some extent because of freedoms they enjoy in those countries that they don't in the US. Many do it just for the experience It is often people with rare skills or people that are the best in their field that can go to another country, earn a boatload of money and live like a king.

So - it seems to me, the people that move TO the states are poor, with very little going for them back home and in the US. That's why they are all maids and drivers. On the other hand, those leaving American have a lot going for them and that is why they have maids and drivers.

In terms of house and car sizes. This is a cultural thing and also of course related to the cost of land/population density. In Tokyo I didn't have a car and if I had, I wouldn't have used it. A car would be totally useless in Tokyo for me. When I lived in Toyama, a car was mandatory as were snow tires and a rack for your snowboard. I lived in very modest accommodation in Toyama but the money was crazy out there. Anyway - there's lots of cultures that do not equate big to good.

It was, but slowly is becoming shit.  Too many Asians and Indians moving in.  it is absurd how many communities are being built and being taken over by them.  USA was the dream for many, but Bush and now Obama are slowly fucking it up.

Since you guys bring up Thailand here is a true story for you....

One of my good friends was doing well for himself, he lived in the Washington DC area, had a successful commercial real estate business which he had inherited from his dad and managed to grow, drove a  nice Porsche (paid off), dated young cute chicks half his age.....You could really say he was living the dream....  then he swears he saw the financial collapse of the US economy coming (around 2005 or so), so he pretty much sold ALL of his assets.... everything he had in the US he sold....  then took all the money, moved to Thailand, bough some land there, and started a few businesses there.   Now he is living like a king - anytime I talk to him he tells me how happy he is there, he is dating a young Thai girl, and tells me all about his life and really has no intention of ever moving back West.  And his business there is really growing and becoming a household name!

Australia.

A near optimal choice but it seems they're heading down Europe's road.

It was horrible, worse than 2010, pretty much had to stay in for 8 weeks, couldn't walk my dog.

Only time I went out was to ride my bike over to the gym, luckily it is only 20 mins ride away but
even then I had to wrap a damp t-shirt around my face, I live in the countryside and usually enjoy it
but back in March it was almost unbearable.

Good to hear that you're outside the city center, I heard Bangkok can be quite polluted also?

Australia has definitely slowed down in the past few years, I was down there from 2008-2010 and perth
was booming, you could pick what construction site you wanted to work on, most of them union jobs as well.
From what I've heard a lot of work has dried up but still a far cry from the mess that Europe is in and will be in for the forseeable
future.

the problem of australia is that it s near china and japan. Japan is poluting the whole indian and pacific oceans while china might invade whole asia in some decades from now. Big bro living there told me the anglo saxons are getting replaced by floods of asians, especially koreans.

There is simply no safe haven anywhere on earth because all economies are interconnected, whoever collapse first, everyone else will follow.

Australia seems to be tightening the ties with China... the US will be pissed.
I was thinking of leaving for New Zealand though read somewhere that they'll be flooded too - with immigrants I mean.
Shit is a mess, being born in a pretty good country like Austria and seeing it and it's viable alternatives rot away.

it s quite obvious looking at the current trends that whole australia, asia russia and the middle east will form a sino-russo-muslim coalition. White europeans are getting replaced quicker than ever by muslims. Just look at the current worse trends and multiply them tenfold, as simple as that. Some white people feel comfortable participating in this evolution tho. The richest ones. It s a world of rich and poor people. Everything is always fine for those who are rich, as i said it earlier in this thread, they feel "good" everywhere, cause they lead , dominate, everywhere they go thanks to their money and power.

Let s see how india survives facing all these muslims or pro muslims nutjobs .

Are you kidding me. While they hunt down terorists in the caucasus simulatenously supporting islamic terrorist states by selling them weapons, they re getting replaced by caucasian muslims or chinese muslims at their borders. It s a matter of birth rates, as simple as that. As long as muslims wether they re from the caucasus, middle east or china have more births, they ll replace those who have less. I remember french and german people saying 20 years ago that they would never be replaced by immigrants... nowadays not only is it a fact that it happened but also that the process is now irreversible.

Birth rates. Demographics. Everything else is bullshit. Before you know it you re the minority. All of those who arent smart enough to see it and pick their side before it's too late are responsible for what happen to them anyway.

And dont believe elites, politics, care about who they lead. Wether the population of the country they lead is made of russians or muslims, they dont give a fuck as long as they can lead them, as long as they re at the top. Sure they might prefer people who look like them, share the same upbringings, but let's be honest, what can they do about demographics? nothing.  Elites, leaders, have no other purpose, goal in life but to lead, that's why they re where they are. Patriotism is for uneducated middle and lower classes. Elites know it's a giant free for all and that everything is allowed to survive and get the best, highest, place above the rest.

USA is the most important country in the world but far from the best in terms of living standards etc.

A lot of the northern European, Nordic cultures have the best all around living conditions.

Yeah, and they pay eighty percent tax so millions of violent muzzie refugees can share their standard of living for free.

I'd put the standard of living here in ca over freezing cold tiny socialist northern euro states.. Maybe they are a better place to live than Detroit , iowa or Alabama but no thank you, I'll stay here in Silicon Valley.

With my language skills, and being exposed to many cultures while growing up, i can move to many countries and feel right at home.

Canada besides it's beautiful nature, and modern infrastructure, it's rapidly losing significance in my eyes. First world living standards come at a high cost, especially in our current ultra competitive economic world.

High taxes
High cost of living
Low wages
Large influx of economic immigrants
Rapidly shifting demographics
Limited economic opportunity due to first world labour laws and socialist ideals

Best thing to do is manage to make money and then go somewhere cheap to live.

I liked living in Toronto back in the mid 2000s' but fck moving back there.. your housing market is even more ridiculous than the one here in northern California. Isn't the average price something like 12 x the average wage now?

Average price for a 2,500sqft home is now well above 750K. Average median house hold income is 35K/yr.

Now you get families of 2 or more living in a mortgaged house with 3 to 4 people working full-time paying for a single mortgage.

Average rent for single bedroom apartment is anywhere from 800-1800/month.

Groceries are ridiculously expensive as well.

Car insurance is the highest in north america.
