The problem is gyms closing all over America , our gym is free and barely surviving( thanks to sponsors ) , it's hard to pay rent ,utilities , buy  equipment .....etc  when you don't charge a cent to the fighters , unlike MMA guys  most boxers come from poverty and broken families ,most of  these kids don't even have money to buy a pair of boots let alone have money to  pay for a membership.

Just google ''boxing gym closing'' and you'll see , this has been happening for the last 20 years.

What did the contracts look like back than? There are plenty of source elements and articles on black talent going after nfl, nba and even rap career money vs not boxing in their youth now.

::)    Did you not read the point about the wars and the iron curtain . fact is there were barely any fighters period over 200 pounds prior to the last 25 years . Boxing is a global sport right now and the USA is simply competing with opposition that didn't exist prior to the mid 90s .

I'm just assuming that the HW ranks in boxing for US fighters has declined because everyone is or is training to cage fight now since HW boxing is now boring in comparison.
