Nonsense , Yates was the first guy who could match Haney on size and back and he made more inroads directly compared to Haney than anyone previously.  Haney couldn't outmuscle Yates like Ray , Labrada and Vince. Mike Christian was never had enough size for his frame even though he had the structure , same with DeMey

HE HAD ONE OF THE GREATEST PHYSIQUES OF ALL TIME WELL BALANCED, SHREDDED , HUGE WHY DID HE FALL SHORT? HELL HE COULD EVEN POSE WELL.

A.  He had a very weak chest.  People talk about Phil's pecs ... LO-fucking-L!  Vince's chest was absolutely pathetic compared to the rest of him.

B.  His conditioning actually wasn't that consistent.  Sometimes, he was shredded (or maybe some semblance thereof); others, he was smooth in the back, hams and ass.

C.  He competed against Haney, Dorian and Ronnie as those dudes were winning.  He didn't stand a chance against any of them when they were in their respective primes.  I was actually amazed that he whipped Levrone in some of the '95 Grand Prix shows ... but then, K-Lo was also known for a relative lack of consistency.

D.  Actually, no, Vince was NOT huge.  He was the first to admit that.  He was extremely gifted with small joints and some awesome muscle bellies.  Plus, FWIW, he is also supposed to be one of the VERY nicest guys you'll ever meet in the BBing world. 

Just the same, I sincerely doubt Vince himself would tell you that he had more than a chance at 2nd place for ANY given Olympia

vince  never was able to compete for a top spot after 1992, thats when you had yates ,levrone , and wheeler wining all the shows, mike francois was around then to , but he got butt hole sickness and wasnt around long, i even remember porter cottrell sneaking in some wins to .

Wrong. Vince won 7 shows AFTER 1992 and that's not counting the Masters Olympias and that's NOT counting the 3 shows he won in 1992

Vince was always consistently in shape. He had a couple of poor showings toward the end of his career but he was always ripped. The problem he had is that he looked small compared to Haney. Great poser too.

Anyone know how he trained in his prime? I know he wrote that he ran two miles a day. I give him props for doing something like that. Most pros get exhausted walking slow on a treadmill. At his peak the articles in Weider use to say he used 5 sets of around 12 reps per exercise. There is a training video that I saw was well after his peak years but it doesn't mean he trained like that back in the day.
