oh ya, I did them.   wasnt' strong on them,   a plate and a ten is about the heaviest went on them.   there were plenty of guys doing two plates a side on fairly strict curls back in the nineties.

it looks like he added the whole 20 pounds to his upper body, especially his arms and pecs

his legs look to be not much bigger

there's a story going around that pearl used a tennis ball to accomplish this shot. i don't believe or at least i don't want to.

yep, except he started smaller and got bigger in the c exp within less time (4 weeks)

in the 77 pic he gained 20 pounds in 10 weeks

but those donkey calf raises must have worked great.  you always saw guys doing them at the original gold's, and everyone had crazy calves.

Great trip down memory lane. Lot's of inspirational builds on these guys back in the day. It reminds me of what got me started bodybuilding.
