Of course not. Most Western Europeans feel a strong bond with the US. Many have relatives there also. Further, we admire many things about the US, such as science, technology etc.

You would not receive any flac at all in Norway. Only radical leftists and some immigrant groups could give you that, but it would be easy to avoid.

Funny that - I found the Dutch a hoot to work with.

I always though the whole "Americans" thing was a bit like saying "European". You can't say a French guy is the same as an Irish guy and if you take people from Alabama, New Orleans, LA, New York, Atlanta - you'll see marked cultural differences between them.

I found people from the US generally decent. There are assholes as there are in any country. I have perhaps spent a total of 2 years in the US. My longest trip was 6 months in Knoxville when I was 25 and I did a lot of travelling with that as a base. Now it's mostly LA.

Most Americans that I know seem to generally agree that the people actually running the US are dicks. There's plenty of ignorant people that think all Americans are dicks but I think most actually know it's just your government. Let's face it - most people also live in a country where their own government are dicks too.

This is a much asked and repeated question many Americans ask but with out taking the patience to consider and research the question let alone any reasonable attempt at getting an answer

Perhaps it would be useful to consider what events prompt such a question and consider those events from an non american perspective.
It might also be worth while setting the question, possible answers and relevant events in the context of the gap between action and rhetoric in American foreign policy.
It is always silly to get taken in by ones own rhetoric and myths.

Why don't they include Canada in the USA weather report? Just a blank area north. Northern Mexico could be included, too.

Most Canadians live within 200 miles of the US and watch American TV.

Btw, most American sit-com TV shows aren't funny. The Mentalist is my fav but an Aussie plays that part.
