Sorry to be a downer guys, but....
Tom Platz:
...torn bicep, damaged knees, damaged ankles, back operation to remove bone spurs.
Flex Wheeler:
...onely one functional transplanted kidney, ulcerative colitis and the synthol in his arms has migrated down to his elbows and all around his deltoids, hypogonadal syndrome from years of mega-dosing testosterone... not to mention he's now covered in highly original and unique tattoos.
Dorian Yates:
...torn quad, torn tricep, torn bicep, ripped fibres in the forearm, shoulder injury, hypogonadal syndrome from years of mega-dosing testosterone and anabolics.
Don Long:
...only one functional kidney transplanted from his sister, some liver damage from the kidney disease.
Casey Viator:
...Casey is 55 this year. He made a comeback at the Masters O a few years ago, but was unable to get in his usual contest condition.
Lee Haney:
...Lee is 47 this year. Granted he never mega-dosed to the extent that some of his contemporaries did, but he did have surgery recently to remove bone spurs in his lower back.
Mike Francois:
...ulcerative colitis which was treated by a nearly complete colon-ectomy, about ten feet of his intestines was also removed during the surgery meaning he will never be able to weigh much more than about 190 lbs.
Kevin Levrone:
...only a slight pec tear so far, but both of Kevin's parents died young from cancer and he seems to be reluctant to use large quantities of chemicals which are known to increase the growth rate of even benign tumours.
Lou Ferrigno:
...Lou is also 55 this year and has been steadily streamlining himself over the past few years. He is unlikely to make a comeback now having used huge doses of GH to get 10th place at the O a few years ago, also, his obvious calf implants negate any possibility of him ever winning even a Masters title.
Shawn Ray:
...happily retired, and got a huge tattoo on his right delt while guest posing in Dublin, Ireland which would probably detract from any nostalgic view of him should he compete again.
Paul Dillet:
...damaged shoulder joint, GH gut and several other health problems.
Bertil Fox:
...does anyone have an irrefutable alibi lying around?
All of these guys competed in an era before GH, insulin, 3g/week stacks etc. became de rigeur, maybe we should be asking ourselves which of the current crop we'd like see remain healthy long enough to even contemplate making a comeback.
