Seeing as everyone is posting verses and whole songs:

Then I learned to play some lead guitar, I was underage in this funky bar
And I stepped outside to smoke myself a j
When I come back to the room, everybody just seemed to move
And I turned my amp up loud and I began to play

It was late in the evening, and I blew that room away

So often, a single line doesn't resonate the listener's interpretation of the song.

Find myself singing the same songs everyday
Ones that make me feel good
When things behind the smiles ain't ok"

- Blind Melon

This is a good thread, but the truth is most music lyrics are sh!t.

It's generally some guy whining about a chick leaving him, and begging her to come back.

"Baby please don't go"

"Baby come back"

"If you leave me now..."

The reason for this is that most musicians are freeloaders and deadbeats and a woman leaving usually means having to find another meal ticket.

Cause down the shore everything's alright
you with your Baby on a Saturday night
Cause nothing matters in this whole wide world
when you're in love with a Jersey Girl

A dream of another existence
you wish to die
a dream of another world
you pray for death to release the soul.
One must die to find peace inside, you must get eternal
I am a mortal but am i human ?
How beautiful life is now when my time has come.
A human destiny but nothing human inside.
What'll be left of me when I'm dead, there was
nothing when I lived.
What you found was eternal death
no one will ever miss you.

What ever happend to predictability?
The milk man, the paper boy, evening T.V
You miss your old familar friends, but
waiting just around the bend.

Everywhere you look (everywhere)
There's a heart (there's a heart)
A hand to hold on to.
Everywhere you look (everywhere)
There's a face of somebody who needs you.

When you're lost out there and your all alone
A light is waiting to carry you home
Everywhere you look.

Extended Version:

Ahhh Ahh Ahh Ahhh Ahhhhhahhhh

What ever happened to predictability?
The milk man, the paper boy, evening T.V.
When did I get to living here? Somebody tell me please
This whole worlds confusing me.

Clouds as mean as you ever seen.
And a bird who knows your tune.
And that little voice inside you wispering.
Kid don't sell your dreams so soon.

(Everywhere Verse)

Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh Chity Chi bob botta

I view Eddie Vedder with the same respect as Bruce or Neil Young.

He's up there.

People tend to view the Artists from the late sixties and seventies as head and shoulders above all...I don't think like that......Vedder, Thom Yorke...every bit as good as the "legends". They were just born in a different era.

Agreed. I love Plant and Morrison, but Vedder is as good as they come. Cornell, too. The 90s were a great era for music.

He's a legend, though. Baby, I'm Gonna Leave You, c'mon? Epic. The 90s guys were all brilliant: Vedder, Cornell, Staley, all from Seattle, too. The last band that did it for me was Tool, nothing since.
