Well, what happens if you want to go on date? Or if you need to drop your kids off at for a rehearsal that involves large musical instruments? Or if you have a lot of groceries? What about the ambulance? I sincerely doubt that they will have a pedal version. Or what if you pick up lumber or deliver heavy equipment?
There is no one fix for over crowding or pollution. And banning cars like some places have suggested is not the answer.

Only the direct shopping area has no-car zones, with electronic barriers like these. Only people who life/work in those areas and emergency services can operate them with a remote control.
