That George Zimmerman charity boxing match is really happening, and now he has an opponent.

Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman said in a news release that he picked rapper DMX out of a pool of 15,000 e-mailed requests to participate. "The match will be one of the Biggest Celebrity Boxing matches of all time," the release read, as quoted by CNN.

Zimmerman previously said the match was his idea, and that he had been training since "prior to the incident." He was acquitted in 2012 in the killing of teenager Trayvon Martin.

DMX was pretty fired up for the bout. He told TMZ he was prepared to break every rule in boxing "to make sure I f**k him right up."

I can't even imagine how many will tune in to watch George get his ass kicked. If he can't handle a rail thin teenager, he's in a lot of trouble going against a motivated grown man with an ax to grind. I assume, no weapons will be allowed.

It'd be lamer than lame to watch these 2 guys, neither of whom can probably throw an effective punch, stumble around with giant pillows on their hands while clutching each other intermittently.

I agree I dont think zimmerman is that tall either, it actually might turn out to be a good fight.

Zimmerman is milking it for all it's worth at the moment. Can't say I blame him, I read somewhere the guy is in $2mil debt due to legal fees related to the case. He wouldn't be in the situation if it was a fair process from the beginning, but the race hustlers and media made a killing from that shit. There's no good options left for the guy.

Yep. these celeb matches are usually wimp bouts. The gloves are insanely padded. They keep hugging & getting broken up. They either stop the fight the first time someone's face gets puffy, or it ends with a "2-1 decision" with one idiot demanding a rematch.

Anyone who thinks this will be a real fight is a fool. Two douchebags trying to reclaim some kind of fame. (I have 2 DMX cds... he hasn't done anything good in a decade).

it must have been 2004 that I downloaded bloodline anthem... he was trying to merge that rock/rap thing... a decent song.
before that, the original cd with the hits on it. I dont know if "aint no sunshine" was on a movie soundtrack? too lazy to check.
