NBC, MSNBC sink to bottom of who the public trusts
BY PAUL BEDARD | JANUARY 30, 2014

NBC News and sister cable network MSNBC rank at the bottom of media outlets Americans trust most for news, with Fox News leading the way, according to a new poll from the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling.

In its fifth trust poll, 35 percent said they trusted Fox news more than any other outlet, followed by PBS at 14 percent, ABC at 11 percent, CNN at 10 percent, CBS at 9 percent, 6 percent for MSNBC and Comedy Central, and just 3 percent for NBC.

The pollster said Fox won because Republicans are devoted to it. “It leads the way because of its continuing near total support among Republicans as the place to go for news- 69 percent of Republicans say it's their most trusted source with nothing else polling above 7 percent,” said PPP.

The pollster also tested voter attitudes on Fox star Bill O'Reilly, who is set to conduct the annual Super Bowl interview with President Obama, and Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert. PPP said that in a presidential match, O'Reilly would beat Colbert 38 percent to 35 percent.

What's more, O'Reilly had a better favorability rating than any of the potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates.

The poll also asked which news team was “least trusted;” Fox won that, too, because many Democrats don’t like it.

When all the politics are stripped out, PPP said that the one outlet that appears trusted by both sides is PBS. Some 57 percent of Americans said they trust public TV news.

I'm telling you... When Bush and Cheney were in office MSNBC wasn't so bad.

Now I cannot fucking stand 5 seconds of that shit. I can only stand Fox News now.

It's so amusing when Bill O'Reilly tries to act all grown up and pretends to be a journalist.

If you add up the liberal networks, 14+11+10+9+6+6+3, we can see that 59% of people trust liberal media.
And 35% of people trust conservative media, FOX News.

I mean, the libs have more channels, so they each pick the flavor they prefer, but they're still watching liberal media.

I don't get the victory dance here, I really do not.  People trust liberal media way more than they trust conservative media.  It's just that they have more channels to choose from.

It's like bragging 35% of kids like broccoli, because the other kids all chose chocolate ice cream (14%), vanilla ice cream (10%), rocky road (10%), etc etc etc.

And Broccoli is bragging... lol

it's weird that no one watches MSNBC, CNN, CBS etc... and no one trust them yet we still hear Republicans pissing and moaning about how the liberal media controls everyones thoughts and has a unfair influence over public opinions and even elections

That's quite the Jehdi mind trick by those cunning Libs

I'm not sure whether I should laugh or cry that Comedy Central is included in a "trust poll."

Granted, I don't watch news channels very often, but it seems a little bit of a stretch to bundle all non-Fox channels together and slap a "liberal" label on them.

I mean, the libs have more channels, so they each pick the flavor they prefer, but they're still watching liberal media.

Again, I don't know... You seem to define everything non-Fox as liberal? But that definition seems as silly as one that says "all phones not running iOS are made by Samsung."

LMFAO the liberal media is not confined to MSNBC, CNN, CBS or any other libtard leaning new channel.

The liberal media is everything from hollywood to yahoo....

Ask getbiggers if CNN, ABC, NBC, and yes, even comedy central, are LIBERAL.

They'll certainly say yes.  All we hear about is "the liberal media" and if any getbigger wants to suddenly claim NBC isn'tbiased, let's hear it lol

While I agree that some of those channels/networks are solidly in the liberal column, the assertion was that they all are. It's possible that they are (I don't really watch them enough to be able to form an opinion) but it seems unlikely that, with the exception of Fox, every news organization in the United States which is very slightly right of center is left of center.

This may come as a surprise to you but objective facts (such as whether a particular network's reporting is skewed to the left or to the right, isn't subject to opinion polls. If 100% of the people in the world were to agree that water has a much higher density than steel that wouldn't change the fact that it does not.

Keep in mind that people on the right tend to see everyone to their left as "far left" and people on the left tend to see everyone to their right as "far right". Which means that the opinion they have about news channels/networks is almost certainly equally biased.

great point

hollywood/entertainment types are definitely tricking the country into buying into their liberal political agenda

Not sure exactly how you think a Yahoo is exerting a liberal influence on the population?
Does anyone even use Yahoo anymore?  Do they have an editorial page?  Is this just one of those things you decided to pull out of your ass in an attempt to support the myth of the "liberal media"

yahoo is the biggest fantasy football site there is, so yea lots of people still use yahoo...

They are basically a new clearing house, they decide what stories to push and which ones not to...
