Yep. The industry is in the eastern parts.
Ukrainian company making components for rockets is a joint-venture with Russia, aircraft parts etc. are mostly consumed by Russia.

The new An-70 plane is a prime example. When it was on design board Ukraine desperately tried to sell it to Europe. No one bought it.
It's basically a project funded by Russia and Russian Air force offered to order it for new light transport plane.
Latest order book looks like this:

-Ukraine 2

Forgive me but it has to be said: USA is piss poor in managing the messes they stir up.
All the countries they meddle in end up in total chaos. Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, Iraq... list goes on and on.
