Anyway, how is Crimean bridge building going on  :D

 ;D

Given the current trend of events, there is soon no need for the bridge  ;D
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ukrainian military column on its way to pro-russia Slavyansk in eastern Ukraine got attacked.
One injured and one dead. It's still very unclear what actually happened but they were apparently stopped before reaching pro-Russia checkpoint on road leading to Slavyansk. Bodies at 1:15

Pro-Russia protesters taking defensive positions earlier today when the Ukrainian raid was supposed to happen near Slavyansk:

Why does' an aussie have so much hate for a country that is simply just not falling into the USA new world order, none of the people posting in this thread are russian, we are all just simply against the USA running around the world imposing their will upon everyone and thing. Your turning this into who would win in a war, are you ten or twelve, everyone loses, we live in a world of usa imposed double standards most of us are just commentating about this, as an Australian with no military defence or capability we do realise that in any conflict you would require military assistance from the USA Uk but that shouldn't mean that you should so blindly allow a nation bully and exploit the rest of the world, especially a country who pushed the world to the brink of economic collapse a few years back and now continues to fix its economy by simply printing more money but also insists that the US dollar remains the stable global trading currency, have a voice, a different point of view, but surely your more capable off we have more nukes that you blah blah.

Today on TV: UN's Security Council debate about situation in Ukraine, wow  :o U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power must be at the least 10x more intelligent than Russian ambassador.
Definitely presidential potential.

Because Soviet Union collapsed. People lost the little savings they had, many were foolish and sold their small apartments (which they got from the state during Soviet era) in the 90's for oligarchs to make quick money...
Russia had to create whole new system from the scratch. It's not a socialist state anymore. People are responsible for their own living. Alone getting used to that if you have lived 50 years in totally different world can be very tough.

Plus Moscow and St. Petersburg are relatively expensive cities to live in because there is the new generation which are making good money and live well. For old farts living on minimal pensions, it's too expensive.
These are things you can't fix in a decade. It takes a generation at minimum  :(

But hey, at least Putin's government actually pays the pensions for everyone and has even raised them. Compared to 90's that's huge improvement.

OBW, whats happen to those who demonstrate against midget & co.,

Usually nothing.
Yesterday 5000 people protested against Russian media coverage on Ukraine. Right in heart of Moscow:

About 5,000 Russians, some waving Ukrainian flags, rallied in central Moscow on Sunday to protest at what they say is a government crackdown on independent media intended to stifle debate about the crisis in Ukraine.

Month ago they protested against Russian military action in Ukraine.

Kiev was supposed to start a crackdown today.
I just came to home from work and reading the headlines, it's not going too well...

Ukraine crisis: Pro-Russian attack in Ukraine's Horlivka

Pro-Russian activists have attacked another official building in east Ukraine, ignoring a deadline to leave or face eviction by Ukrainian forces.

Maybe a bit surprising at this point but no one seems to believe in full blown civil war. After all, both sides appear reluctant to open the can of worms. Although in tense situation like this too eager kid with a bad trigger discipline is all it takes to flame the shit up...so nothing is sure.

-------------------------------------------------------

Reports from Slavyansk region that pro-russian have took over the local 'airport'.
Putin's spoke person Peskov said earlier: “He is getting a lot of appeals addressed personally to him, asking him to intervene in one way or another. He is monitoring the situation in Ukraine with great concern.”

Now that local airport is secured, it would be possible for Russia to fly in the troops. After all, that's how it started in Crimea: soldiers first appeared at the airports.

But seeing how the airport looks I'm not sure if even Ilyushin can land on it...

How did "godless" Russia end up being the defender of traditionalism & Christianity? While the U.S. and Europe are looking so much like the USSR?

Russia never was "godless", you can say religion was neglected at USSR, but in general it never was denied by people. But since USSR has collapsed, religion always was supported at official level too.

I like the course Russia has taken - to support traditional values and negate eastern influence like gay marriages, legalization of drugs and black presidents.
