The only reason you don't see "silliness" on all the other boards is the moderation and any feud is quickly squashed. I guarantee you if a forum like promuscle would get rid of moderation for a day there would be all out war, lots of tears shed, threats to life etc. Any forum I've been on has been mostly idiots. There are "serious" people here too, in fact quite a few pros have posted/post still. But on the other hand, pros can be some of the most retarded people out there, and I mean real mental retardation.

The reason there aren't more prominent amateurs and pros posting here (at least under their own names) is that their bullshit is quickly called out. They can't sell their absolute dogshit supplements, their jacking off on webcam for homos is exposed (Namat) etc, etc.

Well said. Robert is paranoid about people breaking into his house and stealing things. Several locks on his front door even while he is home. One day Scott had to climb up over the roof to get inside to visit. Notice how Scott says he keeps the negatives and slides in a safe deposit box. He is telling everyone he doesn't keep them at home so no use trying to steal them. Robert said he was going to write a book about the 80 Olympia. Nothing yet. I doubt Scott is a good writer. He should be getting me to help him instead of behaving like a jerk. If he keeps behaving like that he won't do well in any business.

I really don't think it's that shocking if Zane cried after losing in 1980. You  put your heart and soul in something can really get to you at the core. This is his life. Hell, Wes even admitted to breaking down after his last experience training for his show. I mean, when you read what he put himself through and just the B.S. and bad luck that flushed all that hard work down the drain is enough to get to anybody.

I looked quite good in 75. Best shape I have been in for a contest. There were slides taken of me on stage. I had them at my gym for the guys to look at and someone stole them! They were never returned so I don't have any photos of me competing. Robert and I were in different height classes so were never compared.

So everyone was there in Sydney to have a go since few knew Arnold was competing. It was a great contest and well worth the $35 admission and $10 for the judging. Frank had won the 3 previous years but fell on a chair and cut his urethra and lost some blood just before the contest. Apparently he lost 10 pounds of muscle. That would have made a huge difference and Frank might have won against Arnold. When he came 3rd it would have been a bitter pill to swallow. Lot of egos damaged that night. Hapless Mike Mentzer never competed again and lost control of his mind for years. The reality of losing impacted on those two in a huge way. Who knows who would have won in 81 had they both battled on and trained even harder. Why Robert wanted to hang around Frank that night under those conditions sounds strange. I guess he thought Frank was a mate. Maybe that is why Robert told the story about Frank. Anyway, I wasn't there in the hotel so I took Robert's word. He never lied about anything else re bodybuilding that I can recall.

A gym member went to Melbourne to take photos. He had some great slides so we showed the boys. I put the theft down to jealousy. What other motive would anyone have?

They were never returned. The guy who took the photos, Trevor Austin, gave me the original slides and there were no copies made. I never saw any photos from that contest

unless some were published in an Australian magazine. Lesson to everyone: make copies of photos before sharing them. Easy to do nowadays but a pain in the old days.

Trying to imagine ten pounds of lean muscle on Zane in this pic would have made quite a difference in his physique. He wasn't going to beat Arnold no matter what. Nobody would have. All Arnold had to do was show up.

Looking at Padilla that year compared to the next in 1981 is like night and day. His conditioning in '81 was mind blowing.

I'm sure Roger Walker was the crowd favorite and that pic doesn't do him justice. Pictures never seemed to justify how good he was. Maybe it was because he was light skinned and the lights washed him out too much in photos. They didn't have the skin dyes then like they have now.

If there isn't strict moderation of posts here then it is a freer flow of ideas and opinions forming an accurate representation(cross sectional of course) of public perception surrounding the topics at hand. The better question would be what is the motives of strictly moderated websites?
