I'd say they peaked with Pyromania. It was probably their last rock or semi-rock album before they turned into a pop band. Obviously that's just my opinion.

Yes true, Hysteria was very much a pop album, Pyromania was probably semi-rock and you could tell they were starting to sell out to commercialism at that point. High & Dry and On Through the Night were proper old-school rock albums.

Perhaps he helped arrange stuff in the studio as it's common when bands don't have control in the studio, but wrote? Don't think so. Song writing credits are where the money is...or used to be. No credits for Mr. Lange save for these. Wealthy or not, I'm sure he would've liked song writing royalties for 10's of millions of albums sold + radio play etc.

I made you all cry like babies because I gave my honest opinion about which band I think is better. I have seen the name AC/DC appear on quite a few "most overrated artists of all time" lists over the years, but I have yet to see the name Def Leppard on one. 'Nuff said!

Def Leppard will always have two RIAA Diamond Awards compared to AC/DC's one. There's only two things you can do about that and that's like it or lump it.

It proves I'm not alone in my thinking that they are hugely overrated. Like I said in my first post, as a rock fan I like a lot of their songs and I own all their albums, but come on, be honest, they are not among the top 20 best bands of all time. Like many other bands, their music lacks variation.

ac/dc stomps def leppard, but that's just my opinion.  ac/dc`s best years were with Bonn as the front man, he had the right attitude and the music was high energy. That's the best part of ac/dc, some of their tunes can flat out get your blood moving.

Malcolom Young apparently is in really bad health and they are looking at calling it a day. Been around a long time so understandable. One of the all time greats

The really crazy thing is that Mutt Lange also produced Highway to Hell, Back in Black and For those about to Rock.
Whether you like the guy or not he definitely knows how to produce albums that sell.

I'm a Def Leppard fan but to say they're a better and greater band than AC/DC is ridiculous. If a member of Def Leppard got sick they announced what AC/DC just did, I don't think anyone would really give half a shit.
