Oh and I want to say CONGRATULATIONS to Swedish Viking (another getbigger) who was also in the show.  You looked great and although you were pleased with your placing I think you deserved a little higher.  It was great meeting you and good luck in the future-also I wiuld suggest trying trial carb-load runs in the months of your contest prep since your diet is a little wacky ;)

Why thank you.  I overheard that conversation you were having with the judge and my opinion on the subject(and I thought this earlier in the day as well), is that had that been any other contest, you would have won.  I think the other competitors actually made you look quite a lot bigger and more muscular than you actually are(not saying your not muscular or anything...you get the point).  The truth is that the other competitors were good but really not nearly as well developed as you and made you seem like a bodybuilder in comparison.  Anyway, you and you're whole team very very nice and proffessional and it was fun talking to you guys.  Keep it tight ass and keep working hard.  If you don't mind helping me, I may recruit you into my contest prep advice team for the next show in 2 mos.

1] You look very good....and yes....being 'too developed' for an NGA show is actually good. If you had the correct level of development for that federation you'd be a wash in the NPC...if you know what I mean ;)

2] Share the Dream Tan secret please.

3] Do you have any pics of who won the overall? I am just "curious".

4] Your presentation across the board is extremely good. Relaxed pose and front pose are literally perfect. In your quarter turn side shot your arms are a little too wide IMO.

5] Congrats :)

CQ-
Thanks!  I appreciate the comments :)

The Dream Tan secret...well I had always heard such bad things about it so when I was ordering my tanning stuff this year I wasn't going to get it.  I was going to buy Tammy Pies competition color but the shipping was too expensive for me to justify (over $20) and after emailing her about it I never heard back so I started looking at other companies products.  I came across a dream tan product that is similar to Pro-Tan so I figured I would give it a shot but avoid the cream.  When I was ordering I called and actually spoke with the owner who was really nice.  He said I should really try the #2 (I think...its the reddish one) cream product-I told him that I didn't think judges liked it on Figure girls, he said he would throw in a sample for me to try.

I still wasn't going to use it but after applying their Pro-Tan-like product I was a little yellowish and I started to get nervous.  Anyway I ran into a guy who said he puts the cream stuff on the night before and lets it sink in-I did a thin layer, wore long sleeves and pants to bed and in the morning much of it had rubbed off.  I looked better but still not dark enough.  I got to the show and my friend, who I found out loves Dream Tan, said I was no where near dark enough and said she was putting more on me and to trust her becaue she "had the touch."  She didn't put a ton on my skin but rubbed it in well, going in semi-circular motions and giving finishing pats to it, she wore gloves (which probably isn't necessaary) and did it in good light.  It didn't really smudge-I was careful not to touch anything but once she had applied and perfected the finish I looked 50% darker and better.  She started with my back, then arms and legs- she rubbed in an upward motion, then downward and more circular.  I made her promise to help me the next few times:)

I agree that my arms are too wide-it was my first time trying that pose on stage.  At Jr's we will have to keep our arms by our sides so I should really be practicing that pose.  I feel that I need to peak my shoulders more on the front and back and I haven't gotten that perfected on stage yet.

This is the only picture I have of the overall winner at this point, she is on the left with the blonde hair and bright blue suit-once I get a better one I will post it.

Viking, thanks for the support!  I was getting tired of telling people I wasn't nor ever had been a bodybuilder on Saturday.  Oh, the Pride guys really liked talking to you as well-they love hearing about other peoples nutritional choices and your thought process is definitely unique.

I would love to answer or help in any way possible with your contest prep.  Just let me know where you want to start and where you really want help.

Take it as a compliment, yo! The truth is you were OVERQUALIFIED at that show...take it as what it was...a prepper for the bigger shows. I betcha lots of girls were complaining about you behind your back...trust/belive that!

I agree w/ 'CQ'...in your quater turn...your arms were a tad bit extended...maybe bring them in closer to yourbody...just maybe by 6-8 inches or so...just a tad. Then again what do I know?

They knew they couldnt allow you to win bec ause it wouldnt be fair to the other girls who also worked to be there...to allow you to win would mean girls would get frustrated and probably not compete next year and their criteria in what they are looking for is different...they wouldnt want you to start a trend...thats what the NPC is for. It's like if 'Dave Reily' competed in that show in Rockford 2 Saturdays ago...see what I'm saying? Just overqualified...you didnt belong there. Now bring it home the 27th and the 17/18th.

                                                               Holla!

Congrats on your class win Jennifer! Like I mentioned to you before, you have to take the judging in stride at some of the contests. I guest posed at that show last year and I thought the judging was off. The judges took FOREVER to come up with a decision when it really wasn't that hard. I was training a girl (in bodybuilding not figure) who should have won her class at that show and they placed her second to a girl who didn't have half her development. She talked to the head judge after the show and he said that she was placed second because she was holding her hands wrong in the double biceps pose (which she wasn't by the way). I think it was a great warm-up for you and you learned some tricks about putting on the Dream Tan which will be a valuable lesson for you for next week and the Jr. Nationals. Keep it up!!  :)

Big John Hansen in the house!

 John is right, Jen...

This show was strictly meant as a prepper and practice. Take it as a stage expierence and Dream Tan expierence show...you met Swedish Viking and made some contacts and was nothing but a learning expierence...thats it!

From what you and John say...the judges there seem a little bit vauge and non-credible.

Let's train together soon...and that reminds me...

SWEDISH VIKING...I congratulate you for competing last weekend...kudos to you, brother. I think its great to turn to Jennifer for contest prep and help...make no mistake here...she may compete in figure but trust me she knows what male BB's need as far as training/nutrition goes...she knows her stuff and wont let you down. She will be on your a$$ day in and day out and will be damned if she lets you come in out of shape or not at your best. Hit me up if you need other advice but I dont think you will in the NGA. If you are REAL, SwedishViking...you will train WITH her...I double triple dog dare you to train legs with her...if you do though let me give you a few...just a few tips:

 1) Arrive ON TIME! You dont want to feel the wrath/fury of the Cowan vortex...I have and believe me...I dont like it!
 2) Be ready to bring your 'A-Game'...get at least 10 hours of sleep and get a qulaity meal or two in you and psyche yourself out beforehand...be ready to squat till you drop and leg press every 45lb plate in the gym...be ready to be pushed harder than you ever thought possible.
 3) Under no circumstance...do NOT suggest to use the inner/outer thigh machine(s)...for they have no place in leg training with this girl. You will take a severe OWNING if you even suggest it in a joking or sarcastic way.
 4) Do not plan anything for the next 3 days...it might take that long to recover...and bring some handy supplies with you...ammonia sticks, knee wraps, chalk, and a squat suit if you have one...also...bring your BALLS!

 Good luck to you!

this sounds like a challenge to me.  Were you at the show bty?  I may just have to take up this challenge assuming I am invited to do so by the person in question...ahem.  Of course, I only do full body workouts, she would have to be able to stick through that if I were forced to go through this seemingly impossible leg workout.

Anyway, cowan, I really don't need help with a lot until the very end.  Like I said, I can get to the last week or so pretty well with no difficulties, but then I seem to do something weird at the last minute like a cooked food carb up in addition to ceasing all water consumption, and shit hits the fan.  I haven't been 175lbs since I was in junior highschool.

Excuse my rudeness, but I must say a couple of those other girls pretty much look like crap. They have no appearence of weight training. I hate to see figure in any federation turn like that. It is *not* a beauty pageant...muscles are a must.

Carry on.......

Thank you everyone...although these may not be the nicest comments they definitely made me laugh out loud.  The girl on my right (at the end) looked great, I have been helping her with her posing and it was her first show.  She took second and really deserved it.  I felt bad for one of the other girls because she had done beauty pagents in teh past and I am not sure she knew what she was in for.  She had no idea how to pose and had actual swimming suits.  I suppose I was impressed that she actually got on stage-it takes guts.

Other then that, the girls were all very nice and a few looked pretty good especially considering it was many of their first shows.  Oh, this was also a "Pro-Qualifier" so the girl who won the overall now has her Pro-NGA card.  I am actually very happy for her since I am guessing she will use it and I wouldn't.

If nothing else this show allowed me to try new things for my contest prep and meet some nice people.  Monica Brant actually was a guest of the show last year (one of the reasons she got in trouble) though I suppose it is ironic since they don't want their girls to look like her.

Next week will be a tougher show and I feel ready for it.  I CANNOT WAIT to get my new suits!  Once I put my old ones on I remembered why I was so sick of them!  They just don't fit quite right.

Thanks again for the encouragement, it has really helped keep me motivated.  It is nice to know you have people in your corner-rooting for you.

John, Thanks sooo much for the feedback and support.  I'm really happy that I have had the opportunity to meet you this year, you are definitely a person I am honored to have support me.  I also heard from one of the promoters exactly what you were just saying about last year, that the judging seemed off-I suppose the supense of who you think should win and who does win is part of the game ::)  Look forward to seeing you soon:)

Viking, I would definitely do a leg workout with you...but I won't waste my time on a full body circuit  ;D  You can pick something else though.  It would be the best to wait until my shows are over because I get a little nervous trying to push 300+ squatting when I am dieted and depleted (and I wouldn't want to dissappoint you).

Also, tell her thanks for putting me first-I really think the head judge had something against my size...oh well, you can't please them all!
