If I was a real powerlifter I wouldnt be reading the bodybuilding mags? What an idiotic thing to say.Just for the record I AM a real powerlifter with lifts of.
942 squat
606 bench
788 deadlift
2303 total
I have won two junior nationals and placed second in the APF seniors three times and second twice in the IPAs.I also bodybuild and last year won the  NPC New England masters AND East Coast USA masters[placed 5th and 4th in the open].
Do yourself a favor BEFORE you come on here and try and rip someone.I use my real name in my posts.Do a freaking google search and find out what the hell your talking about before you shoot off your mouth.By the way,Im in MONSTER MUSCLE EVERY month,so,in fact I do get in the mags. There is nothing worse then some wannabe who doesnt know what the hell hes talking about coming on here and trying to seem like they are experts. Now,try going to the gym and getting your lifts up,so you can actually post and be able to back up your stupidity.

So let me get this straight, your a homo if you read bodybuilding magazines, but your straight by posting on a bodybuilding website that talks about bodybuilders.Good call. When I get home from work,I will be sure to alert my wife and son that Im queer,I know they will be shocked, but the expert posters on GETBIG have spoken,so therefore it must be true.By the way,I wonder how many of you internet icons have ever actually dated a women,or is your sex life relagated to the flickering lights of internet porn.

If it makes you feel better, you’re a cutie, but in this thread you’re only digging yourself deeper into a hole.  I suppose there are one or two people here who are impressed by those numbers, but basically no on cares.  Much like the body building magazines you’re griping about, this is a forum for gossip and opinions and no one here takes claims seriously.

Perhaps you should try the Powerlifting / Strongman forum; you might get some guys to genuflect there.

I stand by my original assertion: anyone who gets upset but some drivel they read in a body building magazine is a mental teenager.  :-\

You remind me of this thread.

Whatever, try and actually training, putting on some size, competing and putting some time in.You know, punching keyboards wont put an ounce of size on your arms, you actually have to train with weights.I know that for internet icons like yourself, thats a foreign concept, but if your posting on a bodybuilding website, shouldnt you actually be a bodybuilder?By the way,I could care less whos impressed by anything I do.You posted that I wasnt a REAL powerlifter,I showed  you Iam,now,I say your not a real bodybuilder ,prove that you are,or are you just one of those pimply faced half a homo guys that only know how to post and not train. It would seem that you must be quite an accomplished bodybuilder as I see you posting all over the place so you must have MANY titles under your belt.Id sure be interested in what youve won.

Isn't the competition PL's why you worried about BBer's, do you take everything you read seriously?

You’re assuming an awful lot and therefore not making much sense at all.  Since you are seeing me “posting all over the place” you might actually read those posts; I have never claimed to be a bodybuilder.  Nor do I aspire to be one.  I could easily name 20 dream jobs or lifestyles and “a bodybuilder” would not be among them.

Of course, there is always room for improvement, but I’m basically happy with my size and shape and have nothing to prove as far as bodybuilding goes.  I train because I like what it does to my body and because I’m into muscle culture and muscle men.

I am not “half a homo.”  Let me reiterate this for you and all the other dim bulbs and newbies out there.  I am openly gay.  I am interested in bodybuilding because I am a gay man who likes looking at heavily muscled men. I hook up with and occasionally date bodybuilders.  I have even gone out with guys I’ve met on this site, but this thread isn’t really about me.  It’s about why you (or others like you) would take anything in a body building magazine seriously enough to be bothered by it . . . and to think someone with that kind of mentality is raising a kid.  :'(

You owe it to your child to grow up--fast.

Perhaps your right, one thing for certain though,Id rather be a father trying to raise a kid[a kid by the way whos already set records in powerlifting at age 9 and has had his picture in PLING USA] and be seen as immature[or dimwitted as you state]then be a poor homosexual trying to get a date on a forum or trying to get a picture of some muscular guy so I could  pull my pud to it.Pretty sad way to go through life.Suddenly I feel much better about my plight in life, thanks, you have made me feel better. In fact, after reading your post,I agree,I no longer will care about the stupid claims of bodybuilders, after all,I could have ended up gay, trolling for d##k on a public forum, now that would have been something to get upset about.

Well Eryk has a video and in it he's doing a squat with 605 pounds with no belt and in pre contest shape. So I don't put it pass him in the off season to hit that number he's claiming.

THere are hundreds of posts on this site about lifting claims by people and I think this is a decent topic to discuss on a bodybuiding goossip and opinions board.  It is not childish to discuss how much weight you can lift.  As for BayGBM he is insulting a world class powerlifter and he probably doesnt even realize that all of those huge hairy muscular powerlifters and strongmen that he worships all care about things like this.

I'm more annoyed by "powerlifters" who like to pretend they're a lot stronger than they really are. I doubt Billy could bench much over 450 without equipment. How lame.

Please explain WHY there is something as stupid as a 9-year-old powerlifting division.

Why would a fourth grader need to devestate joints when they're still years from puberty and full bone growth?

That is an old wives tale.He never takes a max and does between 10-15 reps in the gym and trains once a week.At the meet, everything he took was easy and weights he had done MANY times before for reps. The only lift he ever extended himself on was the deadlift[170 at 90 pounds and a near miss at 200]and he was told to put iit down if there was any strain. Please,do some research. The Eastern block has childeren lifting at 3 years old, gymnasts compete at much younger ages then 9 and that sport is far more strenuous on joints then lifting, even swimming takes a toll on young joints.By the way,do you think lifting or football would cause more injuries at a young age,yet pop warner starts at about 6 years old.

Oh yeah,to Brian X ,yes,I wear a bench shirt, unfortunately I cant get 150 pounds out of it.I have done 505 in the gym on the bench with no shirt[Im not a very good bench presser]and 475 on the incline bench[again, not too strong benching].However,ALL my deadlifts are done in only a belt and I think we can agree that the deadlift is the king of all strength movements with gear adding very little to it so take my numbers for what they are worth.I also wear no wrist wraps.By the way,I have benched in both a denim and poly shirt and benched 606 in the denim at super heavy and 600 with a poly at 308 and 575 in the poly at 275 and 520 at 242 in the poly. So,in my case its not the shirt[UNFORTUNATELY,I wish I could learn to get more out of it as some guys get 300 out of theirs].I do agree that gear padds numbers, but despite how good the gear is,it can only add so much.

Well,in this day and age its probably not wise to say one way or the other.I will say this and let you draw your own conclusion,I powerlift and bodybuild only in non tested events...If your going to say my bench sucks,I already know that,Ive never felt comfortable on the movement and even to do what Ive done took an incredible amount of effort and work.I wasnt one of those guys who just got strong easily. It took me two years just to bench 225,so Im obviously not very genetically gifted. In fact,I have poor genetics in both sports.I have very small joints, which hurts my powerlifting, but I also have muscle insertians which arent very long or full. So,in other words you could say im f##ked in both sports. However,I do have fun doing both.

My bench went up the same way that my other lifts went up.I just put in a lot of years of training.Ive been training for 25 years and in that time I think I missed a total of 11 workouts due to sickness or injury, despite being injured on a very regular basis.[However in Nov. I ruptured my pattelar tendon and broke a knee cap at the nationals so that was the first time I missed an extended amount of time 3 weeks].So as the years went on,everything just went up really slowly.I think too many guys I see want a quick fix and get frustrated when their gains come slow.Ive always believed slow and steady win the race.I just do basic stuff. When I bodybuild its all barbell and dumbell work as heavy as I can and a variety of rep schemes[5-20] and when I powerlift I follow Westside barbell training. One thing for sure.If I can lift heavy and get big[relatively speaking,Im small next to pro bodybuilders]then ANYONE can because almost everyone I see has as good or better genetics as me.

Any of you guys remember an issue of M&F in the early 90's when the did an article on Dave Remington a center in college football who was suppose to be the next greatest player. The printed (swear to God) his workout routine. I forget the majority of them but the one that really stuck out was that he did  ::) upright rows with 405lbs for reps EVERY shoulder workout. Not shrugs, but upright rows. For reps no less. I was amazed that they actually thought people would believe that sh*t.
