Ferrets!
« on: August 26, 2014, 09:32:44 PM »
So, anybody else have/had a ferret as a pet? I have my Booboo. Easily the sweetest pet I've ever owned. I'm still at times surprised at how smart they can be.

Haha! Nice video.  ;D

Ferrets have things they like to hoard. Mine loves shoes and bags. Just like a woman.  :P

Booboo wrestling with my sister's dog and then a nap. She's immediately friends with anything she meets.

I used to have 17 of the critters

They love company, you should get another one.

What is the life expectancy? My Uncle's family had a pair. They were devastated when they died.

Is it worth it to get a pet with a low life expectancy?

Well, that's if you're an animal person. Is it worth giving a pet a good life? No matter how long they naturally live? I would have to say yes. But they do live 7 to 9 years normally. It's important they are given the right diet. They're pure carnivores. So, anything other than that can lead to blockages in their bowel's and eventually death. A good food source for them is raw chicken. I give mine chicken wings. As the bone marrow holds nutrients that is needed for health as well.

If you're looking for a good pet I highly recommend them. They're neither like dogs or cats. But they do have their niche as a family pet.

17!!  :o That's a lot. I think it's pretty awesome though that you're giving so many a good home. And yeah, you're right. I do need to get another. Which I plan to very shortly. I picked mine up from a Petco. Walked past the little guys and had to get one.  I think I'll be getting the newest additions from there also.
