If you get rid of the guts and get rid of the muscle "vendors" there is no one left.  Just saying. 

I suspect you are correct but that in now way prevents me from stating what I hold true and commenting up the pitiful passion play of bodybuilding in general and (in this instance) the Olympia in particular.

It used to be more family and friends in attendance and was, of course, more health oriented.

I would think they would be replaced by men with good physiques that actually work hard to attain them as well as work hard for an honest living.  Men with small waistlines and broad shoulders.  Men that look like men, not caricatures of caricatures.   I realize not all of the "greats of the past" were exemplary examples of clean living (Dennis Tinnerino comes to mind) but there were more than a few that were.

Being a drug bloated mess of mass is neither healthy nor attractive to the public in general.  Selling yourself to the highest bidder among the lowest common denominators is pitiful, disgusting and shows just how low the bar can drop in moral limbo.  Bodybuilders have to be among the laziest of human beings on the planet.   Hustling will never go away entirely but it should never be celebrated.

No one likes a slut.  They may screw one but unless mom and/or dad were sluts they will never take one home, male or female, to meet their parents.

So let me ask this: If someone in the internet will release a video, where Phil is fucking farm animals, would Phil win next year? It is the USA, the most hypocrite nation on earth, where you have right to be as sick pervert as you like, but never show it. Kai has make his mistakes, and now he is paying the fee, it is simple as that. How about a career of Bob Paris? He retired from his bodybuilding career on the ripe age of 32, just two years after coming out from the closet? It is ridiculously stupid to think that these two happenings hasn't anything to do to each other.

That has always been the public face of bodybuilding but the underside was always there.  It did not spring up in the last 10 years.  The only difference between now and the good old days that you long for is that you were too young to know what was going on, and the internet didn't exist to make it possible for you to find out what was going on.  The porn vids and Colt magazines of yesteryear featured many bodybuilders of their day.  Just saying.

To some extent that is true but with no where near the unanimous degree that we see today.

Not so.  I am 57 and have always known about this side of bodybuilding because when you so closely resemble a top 60s/70s bodybuilder as did I when I was young, well...Suffice to say you're going to get "asked".  A lot.  I may not have as many "stories" as you but I have them.   No, other than what I witnessed I was not involved in any way shape or form with anything so seedy.  For example, Ken Sprague of Cassidy and Dakota shame...errrrr. "fame" was a SLUT and owned Gold's.  Bob Birdsong?  Yup.  And more, plenty more. 

I know whereof I speak and not just about Bond films, my friend.
