What's up with reality TV obsession?

The producers and ad sponsors must love 'em as they do make  a quick profit .
1. You don't have to pay real actors, writer's , etc
2. The set is pretty cheap and never changes.
3. Once the popular buzz passes, you let the cast go and get some more morons to take their place for the next gimmick.

I confess, I watched a few episodes of "Honey Boo Boo" when it was a hot show, a couple yrs ago.
I knew it was junk TV , but it was funny and entertaining, so WTF, it was fun.
What amazes me is that a lot of people think it's REAL and the people are being genuine.
LOL, it's authentic and pro wrasslin' or Donald Trumps hair .

The other thing that amazes me is the amount of fan attention and celebrity these reality TV stars obtain.
KimK, has a boomin' ass ,but she can't sing, act, perform and has no expertise or athletic talent.
Why do so many people care what she does each day?

Take that Jersey Shore bunch. Why did people care what Snooky or "the situation" did in that beach house. I didn't.

Reality TV allows the average, mundane person to "step out of themselves" and put themselves in the life of excitement (jersey shore). Once the excitement is over, people go back to their mundane, boring lives, but continue to watch to get their "fix" of excitement. Sort of like the addict.
