The reality is: if he doesn't join Alcoholics Anonymous he is destined to drink again. That's been statistically proven.

Kept my ol' man off the hooch for 7 years. As soon as he stopped going he fell off the wagon again. He's in control now though...loves his sauce so he does just like myself oooooh the alcohol it's the finest drug around, babes!!!! Just the hangover and depression and THE FEAR is catastrophic to one's mental health BUT THATS THE FUN PART!!!!!

THE FEAR!!!!!

Its tough sometimes. You see how commercials and t.v./movies glorify alcohol.

I wanna drink with Al Swearengen  :D

Don't mind him.  He's got a terminal case of the tards. He wants everyone to be as miserable and insufferable as he is.
Not at all actually, I'm rather content by my standards.

And insufferably is something one is born with.

On a serious note more than a few of my friends are alcoholics or were.

I barely escaped that shit.

Just don`t go do anything stupid like find religion and become a Tbombz.

Hopefully you took the info in that thread that exposed the AA 12 step program as a fraud and failure directly to them.

You can be content with your standards but that doesn't mean your standards are worth anything.

|Could you provide a link>?

Shizzo>How serious it was? I have a friend whio's (imho) on a way to becomming an addict and I think there's no way he'll join AA anytime soon.. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's just a period he's going through.

Actually if I always respond, it would seem to have absolutely no connection to what your saying, merely that is in reference to me.

I was basically forced to go to AA meeting. I was very skeptical at first, but it has definitely been a good experience.

Alot of good guys in those meetings that you can gain valuable insight from.

As for your friend.... If he has multiple drinks everyday and also drinks by himself, then he might have a problem.

Adonis>Thanks.

Shizzo>Yep, he does that pretty often. Though it's a rough period for him currently, lots of troubles in many fields of life. But that is not the answer, obviously. Well I guess there's no way to "force" a person to do that anyway, unless the person forces himself (that's what you did I assume).

No, I was actually confronted about it. I denied it at first, but I know now that I had a problem.

I probably would still be drinking if I was left to my own devices.

Sit your friend down, and tell him you think he may have a problem.

Thats what friends are for.

You'll get past that. Down the road, you'll even be comfortable at parties and/or bars, if such things interest you. Wouldn't recommend it until you're dry for a year or so.

Good work.

One good friend tried to do that already, and he just replied: "I will drink regardless of what my parents, friends, girlfriends say, I don't give a shit. I want to drink so I drink, period.". Pretty much it.
