Even though it's a Hank song, I always liked Charlie's version better

I always thought Joe Diffie was pretty cool!

Not really traditional but I liked some of his songs.

And let's not forget Honky Tonk Attitude. I was pissed that i missed Diffie last year due to a friend's wedding and he was literally playing 10 minutes away. I should've snuck out.

I'm also a big fan of Blackhawk

They also wrote this song although Restless Heart made it popular

Country music sucks , all singers sound the same and they  sing about the same shit , trucks , dirt road , Jesus , booze , girls , tight jeans.

Not a fan, no.

But there's nothing wrong with the music. Just not my thing.

Shania was massively hot. But ... She was nothing much before she met Mutt Lange and now, with them being divorced, she is nothing again. Without the guy, Twain is just some ageing country-pop queen without the songwriting goods to maintain a relevant music career. Sad but true.

P.S. Some terrific musicians in the country world.

Couldn't have said it better. Without Mutt, Shania's career non-existent.  He is ridiculously talented at crafting perfect melodies that cannot be forgotten. A pop music genius.

And for the record I despise 95% of C&W particularly the mainstream stuff.  To each their own, much of the metal I favor I know others would consider unlistenable.

Of course, every one hates country music "except for Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson".    ::)

Those same folks have never owned a single album, cd or mp3 from either of them LOL.  Just "cool" to love them.

I thinks Johnny transcends the genre actually. And I saw Willie way back in 1978 when he played with the Dead and NRPS at the Meadowlands in Jersey. My first Dead show, and it was killer. Willie put on a great show as well. Also saw Charlie Daniels with Papa John Creach back in the day. Good show.

I actually think there are a lot of musically talented country musicians out there, and musically, they have my respect. That twangy shit just isn't my thing though. Goes totally against my grain. Used to be a "southern rock" fan back in the day, but that's as close as I came. I've seen the Outlaws and Molly hatchet back in the early 80's. Never got to see Skynyrd unfortunately. The Allman's are one of my favorite bands to this day, and their 2009 show at the Gorge was one of the best shows I've ever seen. But true country, with the yodeling voices and twang just bugs the shit out of me. I'd much rather listen to true rock or blues.

No mention of this Billy Ray Cyrus yet?!
Back when I was younger him and Garth Brooks BS were all I knew of country. Some good old stuff out there though, can't speak for modern stuff.  Some fine women in the world of country too.

I find it can be good cruising music. Bit of Kenny Rogers, John Denver, Kris K go down well on a long drive.

The Rolling Stones did some nice country style numbers way back in the day- Country Honk, Dead Flowers, Sweet Black Angel plus others.

Billy Ray Cyrus had some pretty good songs that were unfortunately overshadowed by a song that doesn't even need to be mentioned. Guy had the best mullet in country music and a chisled jaw. Definitely a lifter
