Supposedly she tried to buy him a Twix, but he doesn't like coconut. He probably wanted a Mounds bar instead.

Doubt he wanted a mounds bar, he doesn't like almonds.

I just am just not buying the story at all. Almost all modern handguns sold these days have at least a 10 pound trigger pull. How many 2 year-olds can do that with two hands, let alone one? Unless she was walking around with a revolver or pistol with the hammer in single-action? Too many questions that should be asked.

This sounds like a lot of "accidental discharges" that turn out to be homicides.

She was a fanatical NRA member and hobby hunter:

Are Idaho supermarkets so dangerous that customrs need to carry guns when they go shopping there?

I have two guesses on this one -

1) She was one of those "open carry" or "nearly open carry" types that just let a revolver sit on top of everything in her purse... minimal effort to hide it, allowing it to flash to "let everyone know she's not to be messed with".

2) She has shitty gun secure/safety practices... if that thing is in its holster, the trigger is never exposed.

either way, she was not using smart gun safety protocol. RIP.

x1000  A 2 year old finds the conceal pocket of the purse, unzips it, takes out the gun and is able to aim a perfect single headshot???  Sure thing.

Also, what's up with her husbands '70s porno' name?   Colt Rutledge?

The lady who was shot an killed was a nuclear scientist. Maybe she had some inside knowledge about government secrets and was taken out. :o

Haha! I don't think that it's a conspiracy. It's like when a cop has a "accidental discharge" that hits him in the head and kills him. A former LEO friend of mine suggested that many, if not most, of them are actually suicides. It's better for the PD and the family (the life insurance policy pays out) if it is an AD.

Folks are forever trying the old "I dropped the gun and it went off" thing not knowing that every hand gun made since the 70's has safety devices that make this physically impossible.

I have no faith that if this story takes a more sinister turn that the media will pick up on it. The narrative of guns=bad must be preserved. THAT is the only conspiracy theory that I will subscribe to.

If only I had made my "concealed carry" thread a few days earlier, maybe she would have seen it and would still be alive.  :-\

Speaking of guns how come the gun grab is different these days?  I remember in the 90s it was a big thing that kids kept going into dad's closet finding a gun to play with and accidentally shoot himself or someone else. The whole gun safe and trigger lock debate ensued. Now you rarely hear of these cases, now it's just mass shootings.

You're talking out your ass again.

She had a special concealed carry purse. The child opened the special compartment for the gun.

No, her husband brought her a new purse for christmas that was specially designed to carry a handgun, i.e., there was a special compartment built into the pocketbook to carry a gun that he had to know was there and get there.

From news article:
So on Christmas morning last week, her husband gave her a present he hoped would make her life more comfortable: a purse with a special pocket for a concealed weapon.

The day after Christmas, she took her new gift with her on a trip with her husband and her 2-year-old son. They headed hundreds of miles north to the end of a country road where Terry Rutledge, her husband’s father, lived. The father-in-law learned of the new purse.

“It was designed for that purpose — to carry a concealed firearm,” Rutledge told The Washington Post late Tuesday night. “And you had to unzip a compartment to find the handgun

We need more bible based video games instead of all these shoot'em ups. How about Egypt and the ten plagues?   Every few levels you get a new plague to use against Egypt. You can improve the power of your plagues with power ups and mods.  You find powerups and mods in various holy arks that contain scrolls and tablets.   You beat the game by freeing the Israelites from bondage.  The twist is you die before you ever reach the promise land.

A games like this would bring our country back around to being on the right bible centered path.  It's educational and moral.

i have items with gun specially secretly hidden.  I STILL keep the cloth holster over trigger.  I'm guessing she didn't have one.

My fanny pack doesn't have a glock just "sitting" in there.  It still contains a holster so I don't shoot myself in the jimmy while reaching for the gun.

I'm betting there was no holster present?

With all due respect, this is an idiotic comment.  What people "need" to do has no relevance in the United States.  Does anyone need to by a Ferrari that goes 200 mph when the speed limit is usually 65 mph?  Does anyone need to walk around weighing a shredded 240 pounds after injecting a bunch of steroids?  Should people only be allowed to do what they need to do?  Who decides what people need to do and what they don't?

Does anyone give a shit about individual liberty anymore?  I don't want to live in a police state.  Outside of the big stuff like robbery, assault and murder people should be able to do what they want.  If you play football you could get a concussion, if you have guns someone could get shot.  If you go to a rap concert you could get raped and set on fire(if you're white).  Shit happens, let people make their own choices.  We need to stop trying to protect people from themselves.  Mind your own business people.

Sad story - these are white people for Christ's sake!

Seriously, though, horribly incompetent gun storage, right?
