We agree to disagree.  I do find myself watching Brasco if I'm flipping channels but it just falls flat for me.
AGREED ITS A MATTER OF TASTE SO TO SPEAK,,,

Don Corleone predicted it properly.

Drugs would be the ultimate downfall of that "thing of theirs".

So was Road to Perdition.

One of my favorite "modern" gangster flicks.

Mean Streets should be in the Top 5.

4)  Mean Streets

Mean Streets and A Bronx Tale give me pause, I tend to think of them as coming of age films, than traditional Mafia films.

I actually like Pacino in Brasco. It's a tiny bit over acted, but it's rather faithful to the real guy in tone and style -

Donnie Brasco is a great film, Depp's hair in that movie is impeccable ;D.  Another really great mafia movie that is awesome and doesn't really get mentioned is Gotti, its an HBO Original film, starring Armond Assante as Gotti, he won a Golden Globe or something for it, I highly recommend it.

Gotti is very good...King of New York another one. I think all the top ones have been mentioned.....but another is Sean Penn in State of Grace. Its the closest they've gotten to take on the Westies...irish mob in New York.

Yeah, that was a good film, I don't think it gets as much attention because it was an early HBO film -

.

I saw this a bit ago, not a great film (6-7/10), but a fun sunday afternoon watch -

.

The true story is a bit darker and more interesting -

Kill the Irishman is a a solid Irish mob film, Not in the same league as State of Grace, but much stronger than the trailer shows -

Just an average movie or a bit better since "average" movie nowadays is terrible. It was watcheable but nothing great about it. Seen it once and no desire to see it again.

Yep, that's it.

Another good one is the Italian film, Gomorrah. You just need to like subtitles, it's more of a street to mid level mob film -

they should have done a donnie brasco PREQUEL.

Those characters were all funny and likeable and awesome (except depp, he was a pouty bitch and DB should have been cast to someone cooler).

Show us the adventures of them in the 5 years before douchebag Brasco showed up.

I can't and will never understand the love for the movie, Donnie Brasco.

The movie is pure shit. From the lousy acting and the guiney mafia accents and stereotype slogans(Fahget aboutit!) ::) None of the actors seemed believable as real gangsters and the movie dialogue was terrible.

Go watch Once upon a Time in America or the Godfather 1 & 2 if you want to see real gangster movies.

I agree with a lot of this. The book was very good though. Interesting to capture the lives of ordinary gangsters. Most mob movies are about the top guys who guys who make a big score. Brasco was more about the regular everyday guys
