therefore I would go from being a 190 pound twink to a 500 pound beast?

Those fine ass martian hoes will be lining up for me.

You would actually appear to weigh less not more.

Exactly, on a scale your 190 lbs would go down to 72 lbs., mega twink. However if you brought your weights with you to Mars you'd have to load up about 705 lbs to equal a 268 lb bench here on Earth.

Mars was not always called the "Red Planet",  FACT!   It was originally a BLACK PLANET and was the centre (note the yourapeean speellling)  of intergallactivized love and sheit.

Just wanted to make that plain before (or after) Wiggs started in on some similar poo but sans any sense of humor and a faux sense of entitlement, pride and whatever else runs through that simple tube mind of his when he's full of dope and nonsense.

Instead of sending the rich we should send the poor and build housing projects there. In just a few hundred thousand years they will have built a metropolis to rival sprawling modern African cities such as Kinshasa and Mogadishu.

ridiculous idea why would we want to live on that barren planet.

and how will they get through the van alan belt?

I was just on the phone with NASA and they are very concerned about your scepticism.

I would like to spend a year or two training on a planet with ~1.5 Terran gravities. It would suck at first, but over a short amount of time, the bone and muscle density increase would be awesome.

You know...provided that there was a breathable atmosphere...and liquid water...and some biochemically compatible food...

...and some porn.

The astronauts would not survive.  Think about all the logistics of such a journey.  The technology is not at that level yet... probably not for another couple hundred years, if human beings can even make it that long.

All I see is a huge failure and many deaths.  I do hope it works out and they can send all blacks there.  Would make earth a lot nicer.

Mars atmosphere is filled with carbon dioxide. At the equator the highest temps can go to 70F. If we plant vegetation it will produce oxygen.  The plants should take off in this high carbon dioxide air and grow at an insane rate with the high semi frozen moisture in the soil. The more plants the higher the temps will happen as it contributes to an atmosphere. With perfect soil, carbon dioxide and no disease or bugs to eat the vegetation it should grow amazing. In 20 years thousand of miles of vegetation could spread. In 50 years there could be a huge measurable difference in the oxygen in place.

Hmmmm, Where have I heard this before?

You've been around a while, brother. The method you suggested for terraforming Mars has been around for a long time. I see you're familiar with it. I'm a bit of a space geek. One of the limitations on plants growing on Mars unprotected is temperature and exposure to solar winds.  Some forms of lichen might be able to survive.  To terraform Mars the temperature would have to be raised which would require building up the atmosphere by adding gasses.

If it takes off the oxygen produced could create an atmosphere that could raise the temperatures on the planet. With that ice can evaporate and create clouds.

It's possible but for the sake of expediency adding more CO2 is the way to go.  Mar's doesn't have a magnetic field or to be more specific an even one. The atmosphere is subject to direct actions by the solar winds.  If you don't build up the atmosphere consistently and quickly any atmosphere you build will be pushed right out into space by solar winds.

You're forgetting the need for water and nutrient rich soil which hasn't been proven.  Also sunlight.  Not sure if it can get adequate sunlight through Mars atmosphere.

Less actual sunlight but because of the thin atmosphere the sunlight is more direct.

It would be interesting to see the genetic mutations that happen from having a short span of mankind where kids will be fucking their cousins and mating at a new rate.  Can only imagine how quickly this all goes downhill once they introduce new viruses and allow them to mutate differently.  Sounds like one big clusterfuck.
They need to leave behind all religion and all that nonsense.  Start new.  If they colonized and let people start with free will how long before social classes develop, someone fools the masses into following them and writing their own book of rules that everyone blindly follows.  Humans are doomed to repeat their mistakes from the past.

They've already been kicked off the moon by the Nazi's aliens. What do they think, that there's no one on Mars?

Hahaha.  You're right.  You'd need a lot more than 100 people to create a viable gene pool.  But on the other hand, most of the earliest settlers will be highly educated and skilled with IQ's higher than the average-scientist types.  Mars would be starting off with a population inclined toward higher intelligence and less likely to believe superstitious things. Over generations high IQ will be the norm.  It's only after Mars is habitable enough for mass migration is Mars likely to go down hill.

You should read "The Martian" (Andy Weir), I finished it recently and it's really good.

A world of high IQ athiest scientists.  That would last 2 generations max before they all died off.  Its the stupid people that reproduce.  All the smart people would sit around thinking how smart they are and not do anything.

They would breed but it would be slower.  Barring proles would be a priority.  Let the Earth become the ghetto of the solar system.
