It's very cool to see others realizing how far in the wrong
direction bodybuilding/judging has gone.
THIS IS 25 YEARS AGO... 180 PDS. AND WOULD SMOKE
ANYONE IN THAT 212 LINEUP.
Listen to the words of wisdom in the 1st 18 seconds.
And to anyone who thinks he's too small, watch the 1992 Olympia
ending when he's standing in the middle of a 240 + Yates and
a 230+ Levrone.

x3. i had him first in 89 also, and 90. had the best body out of haney, himself and dorian. and by far the best posing routine.
posing needs to be rewarded- not for hitting a bunch of random poses either.
muscle mass for mass's sake is ugly.

Really man?  That's your argument? They were judged on the mandatories not transitions. Ronnie at the 01 Arnold would crush Flex.  01 Arnold is one of Ronnie's best looks only outdone by the 98 Mr. O. You always screen cap these transitions as if they matter. They don't.

No , my argument is Flex would beat him because he has everything Ronnie has plus he doesn't have a gut !! The only pose Ronnie would win is the rear lat spread.

Ronnie 98 was almost beat by a Flex that was NO-WHERE NEAR his 1993 ASC form , spot-on Flex kills Ronnie

No he wouldn't Flex is narrow from the back, Flex's hamstrings and glutes have always been shit compared to Ronnie.  Flex has a shallow chest compared to Ronnie. What's laughable is you believe an 8 time Mr. Olympia in one of his best showings will lose to a guy with zero Olympias. Then you try to string some argument together like in your last sentence to back your opinion. Ronnie came out of no where to win that show. Flex was supposed to win that show. That says more for Ronnie than it does for Flex. Especially considering it was the Olympia. So your argument is void. That gut youre talking about it not seen during the mandatories.

93 Flex has a prettier physique. That's it.

Let's not forget Ronnie would have outweighed Flex by literally 30 lbs of muscle same height.  Flex would get crushed.

I don't care if Ronnie came out of no where to win the FACT is he barely won at what is considered his very best Olympia showing ever and one of the best he's ever had. He barely by the skin of his teeth beat a ho-hum Flex in 1998 who was off because he couldn't replicate his 1998 ASC look because he competed in the spring. He ' beat ' Flex by 3 points and we're supposed to believe a dead-on-the-money Flex would demolish Ronnie

Your point's he's narrow from the back and his hams and glutes aren't up to par are strawmen , despite all of those supposed ' flaws ' he still beat Ronnie.

I will say this Flex 1993 ASC or 1998 would OBLITERATE Ronnie 1998/2001 with ease.

WTF is barely won?  A win is a win.  Either you win or lose. You had a guy that wasn't on anyones radar to win that show come out of no where to beat the guy supposed to be the next in line for a long time coming.  Other than the 1st round, Ronnie had PERFECT SCORES.  Ronnie lost to Flex in the 1st round. Individual Mandatories.  When they were compared, it was clear that Ronnie was the winner in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds.  (All bullshit BTW because posing is never really judged).

Flex isn't obliterating anything. Ronnie owns Flex and Flex helped to make Ronnie who he was by hooking Ronnie and Chad up.   What do you mean he still beat Ronnie?  Before Ronnie came into his own?  Flex never beat Ronnie again after Ronnie became Mr. O. and Ronnie has actually beaten Flex at a Grand Prix show before he became Mr. O. Nice try.  Quit picking bodyparts from various years to defend your argument.

Ummm NO a win is not certainly a win. There is 2003 which Ronnie DOMINATED everyone by leaps & bounds and no one was even close and then there is 1998 where Ronnie barely beat Flex , this isn't disputable it's a FACT he won by just 3 points. So what he won the other rounds with a perfect score , irrelevant. he still only one by just 3 points. It was a close contest regardless of how you feel. It's still to this day one of the closest Mr Olympia contests ever.

Flex was on a downslide in his career when Ronnie started to beat him. Granted NOT Ronnie's fault. But Flex decided to compete in the the beginning of the year in 1998 to win an easy ASC and anyone knows Flex can't replicate his conditions , his health was failing by the time Ronnie was kicking his ass too. Flex said if he showed up in the shape of the 1998 ASC at the Olympia he would've beaten Ronnie with ease!!

Ronnie is a poor man's Flex sorry but it's true. And quit picking bodyparts? You're the one who brought them up  ??? as a way to defend your argument , I'm merely pointing out two can play that game , I've always maintained poses win contests and not parts. Ronnie is wider , has better hams & glutes? Flex is more aesthetic and has better abs and calves. See we can both play that game.

Although my preference is the 1993 ASC, 218 pound version of Flex,
the 232  pound 1998 ASC version would have taken Ronnie in 1998.
Even if it was close, Flex's name recognition would give him a huge advantage.
If you watch the 1998 Olympia DVD, people are split after prejudging between Ronnie and Flex.
Flex was 227 and smoother than the Arnold.
Check his face in the 1st picture and you can tell how dry he is in the face compered to
the 1993 Olympia. Lighting for the 1998 ASC was not that great compared to the 93 lighting.

As well as being ripped at the 98 ASC he added thickness to areas
that were a little weaker like his chest, back, glutes and legs.
Also, IMHO; this would have won the 2014 Olympia without any debate
in my mind.

Saw them both on a daily basis.  Much preferred the 1993 version. Always though the 1998 version was unnecessary.

Isn't this the same shit Arnold slammed Dorian for in the 90s? So why is he rewarding it now? Shit, even Branch won his show, and it doesn't get any less aesthetic than Branch.

Arnold doesnt judge the show. Hope this helps.

No influence at all?

If not, why continue the contest? Name's attached to it; implies some sort of endorsement, one must assume.
