Oh yes, it's a serious career.Here in the USA, a Registered Nurse has to attend 4 years of college and attain a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. They are required to take science prerequisite classes that are very similar to pre-med students. It's a professional degree with a lot of opportunity.I am even more impressed with the Nurse Practitioners. They do the same 4 years of undergrad and then are required to do an added 3 years of graduate school training with their own form of mini-residency. These individuals are professionals with over 7 years of academic training, so when I hear people say Nurse Practitioners make upwards of $130,000-$150,000, I think it's well justified.Personally, I think the Physician's Assistant route is just as good and doesn't take as long. Either way, you can't go wrong with any careers in the world of healthcare."1"
