All print magazines will be done in 1 - 2 years
BB websites (MD, Rx etc...) will follow suit
This is the social media generation, people in the "industry" might actually have to get a real 9-5 job (shudder at the thought) or go back to jail for dealing drugs
While I do feel that the print industry as far as bodybuilding publications go is certainly on shaky ground, having the same issue online will probably take over once they do finally disappear off the newsstand shelves. And the other online aspects, such as podcasts, videos and posts, will always have a market.
I am using the print issues of
MuscleSport Magazine http://www.musclesportmag.com as more of a media kit of sorts as handouts at expos, gyms and supplement stores. The online version gets a much better response and there are no circulation, distribution or shipping costs incurred.
But as a whole, I am using the magazine as a bridge to the website, where we have also all of our big name columnists, radio show, videos, forum and articles. That is the aspect of the business that can not only survive, but thrive, as well.
With FLEX and MD, they are using their respective websites as bridges to the print magazines. They are not changing with the current climate and are obviously suffering as a result.
