That's a nasty shitty injury.....give it time to heal and work your healthy bodyparts like crazy in the meantime...legs and so.

Beware of the heavy barbell bench press.  I still do them, but only sparingly.  As you age, it best to use dumbbells most of the time.  If your shoulders hurt at all, do not even attempt barbell bench pressing.  Leave your ego at the gym entrance.

Not giving advice concerning surgery. Just telling my experience. My right shoulder throbbed for awhile and was really stiff. Then my left shoulder went. I was doing pullups. Pain was a 10 out of a 10. I thought I was going to pass out when I moved my arm. I saw an orthopedic surgeon and he did an MRI. Told me I had a torn labrum on my left arm. I remembered how long it took me to regain strength back in my arm after getting a complete bicep rupture repaired where my bicep rolled up my arm like into a ball to my delt.  I held off on the shoulder operation and the pain began to dissipate.

This was about 2 years ago. Where am I now. I can barely bench without pain and weakness. When I use dumbbells I can find a sweet spot by twisting the dumbbells. I use to hit the heavy bag and now it's a rare event.  I really want to hit it regular but I don't think my shoulder could take it. I see many guys that have minor shoulder operations and they are back in the gym benching in 3 months. I'm just wary since my complete bicep rupture and the length of time and work it took me to get back.

It took me 18 months the first time post op before I could go very heavy .....if I do the surgery again I'll spend more time on recovery and no more 315 bench or 95 dumbbells incline

Sorry to hear this bro is there a chance you could avoid surgery?  I've been ducking cervical spine surgery myself. :-\

I got the keyhole arthroscopic surgery mate. About 5 years ago now. I was a boxer and endurance athlete. It fucked my boxing really badly because the rehab was so long. I always done weights too but it took about 2 years until I could really train shoulders and chest properly.
It's never been perfect since, I quit the boxing last year but still do gym/swimming and everything else fine now.

Damn thats a long recovery time, glad youre fine now though.  Did you fully recover on the boxing eventually?

Injuy's suck in a major way...
I tore my rotator cuff (supraspinatus) and was advized to have it operated on...
I doubted and had a university 2nd opinion: advise was not to have surgery and see what happened after proper time. Turned out that after (a long) time my shoulder kinda re-arranged and I was able to build it up with higher reps (15 or 20).
I am very glad I didn't have surgery, my strenght is back and I went from 20+ to 15+ to 12-15 on DB bench.

Clue: don't get an operation too soon. Most surgeons don't know shit about BB...

That's why go to a sports ortho. They deal with this on a daily basis.

Your wife would disagree, she has the look of uber adoration when she looks up at me from the kneeling position.

By itself....Stopped lifting for 6 months and when I returned I avoided every movement that hurt...

Tedim,

I am sorry to hear that you are going through this.

I had similar not too long ago and it sucked. I am finally able to lift decent weights with the affected arm and it's still not 100%.

I don't know your age, but for guys in their late 40's and early 50's, this shit can suck big time.

The combination of Weak strength genetics and low I.Q  are to blame here. some people are just not cut out for lifting. Tedim is suited to more soft hand hobbies like washing up and embroidery, which is a more honest reflection of his personality.

Stalking me will not get you a cock shot Nancy, you will just have to keep taking cold showers and shoving large objects in your anus in your rent controlled loft with lawn furniture. 3 desperate posts in my tread, ROTF I live in your head and own you now Fluffer.

Stalking? ::) No, mocking? Yes, laughing out loud at you? Constantly! Youre a dickhead looking for sympathy for getting the same injury twice ,attention seeking at its worst.

You used good old fashioned logic and common sense... a rare thing these days.
